Geeta Jawadekar Conferred Varadaraj Adya Memorial Award

Mumbai, Feb 26:
The prestigious Varadaraj Adya Memorial Award, instituted by Karnataka Sangha of metro city, for the year 2007, was conferred on well-known classical singer Geeta Jawadekar at Dr M Vishwesaraiah auditorium at Matunga on Monday February 25.
The programme was presided over by Manohar M Kori, president of Karnataka Sangh of metro city.  Pandit Pandarinat Kolhapure, who was the chief guest of the occasion, conferred award on Geetha Jawadekar.

“Maharastra and Karnataka enjoy the cultural ties since time immemorial.  Karnataka has significantly contributed to music and Indian culture," said Pandit Pandarinat, in his address to the gathering.
Geeta Jawadekar, recipient of the award, while acknowledging the felicitations, said that it was as if she had been presented with the award by her parental.
Srinivas Jokatte, honorary secretary of Karnataka Sangh welcomed the gathering.  Vivek Shanbagh introduced the awardee.  Prakash G Bhurde compered the programme.  Om Das Kannangar proposed vote of thanks.
‘Ranga Gandharva’ ballet was held by the pupils of Vidyadhar Gokhale Music and Dance Foundation, along with artistes of Shubhashree Marati troupe, as part of cultural programme.
