Mangalore, Sep 25: A group of 20 UNICEF representatives from various parts of the world paid a visit to ‘Ira’, a village in the outskirts of city  here on Monday September 24.

The village Ira, which lies at the out skirts of city and close to Mangalore University, has been recognized for its remarkable achievement in sanitation, drinking water and cleanliness under ‘Nirmal Gram’ project. Hence, the UNICEF representatives have come here to explore the success of Ira village.

Speaking to media persons, Hassan Adam from Sudan said that India has already been collaborating with Sudan in diverse areas like science, agriculture, oil exploration, etc. Sudan has been dependent on India in many fields. The ideas implemented by Ira village for improving the basic amenities worthy to be followed. Hence, Sudan will try to implement these ideas for rural development, he added.

Aloysius Mashingaindze from Zimbabwe was largely impressed by the efficient drinking water supply implemented by Ira village. He said that Zimbabwe is lacking such facility in the country side, he informed.
