Bangalore: Bill for protecting pension of ex-legislators

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jan 28: The Karnataka Legislative Salaries, Pensions, and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2014, was tabled in the Legislative Assembly to provide pension to the family of the deceased person, who was a member of Mysore or Coorg Representative Assemblies, Constituent Assembly or Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council of any state including an Indian State or province which or any area of which now forms part of State, before January 1952.

The Bill also envisages providing pension to legislator from August 1, 1990 where the election of legislator was set aside by the Court in an election petition due to technical reason not attributed to such legislator such as inclusion of certain voters in the voters list after the issue of notification of election.

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T B Jayachandra tabled the Bill on Tuesday and said the proposed legislative measure would be recurring additional expenditure of Rs 4.80 lakh a year.

Jayachandra also tabled the Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill, 2014, to make provisions to place the accounts and audits report and annual reports of every planning authority before both houses of the state legislature.
