Udupi, Oct 4: The newly built CSI Church and Bell tower at Ambadi in Kote gram will be inaugurated on October 4. The information is disclosed by Fr Gladson Anand, the church priest, in a news conference held on October 3 at CSI Katpady Kristha Devalaya.
The inauguration ceremony will be led by Karnataka Southern diocese bishop Dr J S Sadananda at 8 am on October 4. Fr Goldin J Bangera, Fr Dr Honey Kabral, Fr J Prabhakar Chintamani and Fr L Soans will participate in the ceremony.
Minister of urban development Vinay Kumar Sorake, Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, Kote grama panchayat president Prashanth Jathanna, Former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, U R Sabhapathi, industrialist Suresh Shetty Gurma, Karnataka diocese treasurer Udayaraj Kaunds, Katapdy Vishwanath Kshetra president Ashok Suvarna, Katpady Juma Masjid Qazi Mohammed Bashir Madani, architect of new Church engineer Prakash Simon will be the chief guests.
Ambadi CSI has a history of 155 years and is a place of devotion for people in Malpe, Atradi, Manipal, Udupi, Moodubelle, Korangrapady, Udyavara, Shankerpura, Sheelapura, Subhashnagara, Katpady, Pangala, Mattukoppala and surrounding areas.
The foundation stone for the new church was laid by Sudhir Prakash, five years ago and the Church has come up at a cost of Rs 80 lacs with donations from Hindu, Muslim and Christian well wishers different parts of the world.
The Church will conduct Sunday classes, youth friendship meetings, women’s friendship meetings, special prayer services in between the week and Bible reading sessions to increase devotion among people besides alcohol de-addiction camps, health camps etc.
Ambadi CSI Church building committee secretary Vijaya Kumar Soans, committee member Kote grama panchayat president Prashanth Jathanna and secretary G Jesudas were present at the press conference.
