Udupi: 159th birth anniversary of Narayana Guru observed

Udupi, Aug 27: On the occasion of 159th birth anniversary of Brahmashree Narayana Guru, Brahat Guru Sandesha Jatha was conducted by Billavara parishad  Udupi district, Billava Seva Sangha Santhekatte, and Shree Vishwanatha Kshethra Katapady, Yavavahini units and other units of the society on Sunday August 25.

Brahmashree Narayana Guru Sandesha Jatha started from Santhekatte to Hejamady Billavara Sangha Hejamady at around 3 pm.

During the Jatha small prayers and Pujas were conducted. Large number of devotees were present. Vinay Kumar Sorake, urban development minister, Vasanth Salian, former minister, Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA, Barkur Sathish Poojary, Kiran Kumar, ex mayor of Udupi municipal council, Sheker K Karkera Padubidri, Prabhaker K Palan Katpady, Shekar Gujjarbettu, president of Kallianpura Billavara Association and other leaders of the community were present.

The Jatha, vehicle rally started from Santhekatte national highway 66 via Katapady, Kaup, Padubidri and Hejamady for the valedictory celebrations at Hejamady which was inaugurated by Brahmananda Sarashwathi Swamiji.
