M'lore: Training programme organized by Central Council YSM

Mangalore, Jun 25: On June 22 office bearers training program and Central Council election of Young Students Movement (YSM) was held at Bondel Church Hall, Mangalore. Students from Cassia High school led us into prayer.

Roshan Lobo President of YSM Mangalore Diocese welcomed the dignitaries on the dais. Fr Edwin Correa, the YCS/YSM Director of Mangalore Diocese,  Jovita DíSouza,  Former YCS/YSM National Secretary,  Josline Vaz,  President YCS/YSM Karnataka Region,  Roshan Lobo, president YSM Mangalore Diocese.  Norbert Misquith and  Nirma DíSouza, the resource persons were on the dais. Fr. Edwin Correa in his speech highlighted the importance of YSM, which would be an instrument to transform oneself and others lives.

Jovita DíSouza conducted ice breaking sessions which helped the students to know each other. Norbert Misquith, explained the students about uniqueness of Young students Movement.

He said, ďAmong all the other movements it is the only one cell based student movement,  where students between the age of 13 to 18 come together once  a week, in a group of 8 to 12 members,  to discuss about their interest, anxiety, problems and to find the solutions in the presence of the animators. Itís also an action oriented movement which brings awareness among the students about social issuesĒ.

He briefed them about the responsibilities of the leaders as a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Yuvathare rep. of their school unit.

Soon after the lunch, program continued with ice breaking session from YCS (Young Catholic Students) Central Council members. It was followed by the election of YSM central council for the year 2013-14. Elected members for YSM central council are:

Vice President: Ashwin Nayak, Cascia High School, Cascia
Lady Vice President: Raksha, Padua High School
Secretary:  Akhilesh K, Philomena High School, Puttur
Joint Secretary:  Anushree, Sacred Heart High School, Kulshekar
Treasurer:  Vishal, MGC High School, Bondel
R.T.S.: Avil Pinto, St Raymondís Eng Med High School, Vamanjoor
R.T.S.: Rachana Shriyan, Cascia High School, Cascia
D.T.S.: Abhijith, Rosa Mystica High School, Kinnikambla
D.T.S.: Vidya, St Raymondís Kan. Med. High School, Vamanjoor
Yuvathare Representative: Anolin Mainal Pinto, St Thomas Eng. Med. School, Alangar
Yuvathare Representative: Vicrith S. Kotian, St Paulís High School, Balkunje

Fr. Edwin Correa congratulated the new YSM Central Council members.

Along with this Training for the YSM Animators was also held in Bondel Church mini hall. Nirma explained them about their role as Animators.

The programme concluded with YCS/YSM Anthem at 3 pm. Altogether 153 YSM students participated in this programme from various schools.
