Bantwal: Kalladka Bhat's Srirama Vidya Kendra raided, forest official denies

Bantwal: Kalladka Bhat's Srirama Vidya Kendra raided, forest official denies

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, May 10: A number of forest department officials have raided Srirama Vidya Kendra, Kalladka, being run by Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, on Friday May 10.

They have alleged that several banned wild animals are being cared for in the school illegally.

It may be noted that Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who happens to be the convener of the above institution, is at loggerheads with Bantwal MLA, Ramanath Rai, since long. Bhat is the provincial Pramukh for south and north regions of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

It is said that wild animals like monkeys, stags, deer, porcupines, peacocks, and hares are being fostered at the school since the last four years without any permission. It is said that though the school had tried to seek permission from forest department to keep the animals, there was no response from the officials.

Sources said that raid was conducted on the basis of a complaint given by the locals.

The forest squad took away the animals and shifted them to Pilikula Nisargadhama. Reports stated that officials may slap cases under various sections of Wild Animals Protection Act against the management of the educational institution concerned.

Not a raid, says forest official

Meanwhile, forest official Padmanabha Gowda clarified that the forest department had not raided Srirama Vidya Kendra but had only taken measures to shift injured animals to Pilikula.

"It was not a raid. There were requests over the past four months to shift some of the animals to Pilikula. Accordingly, we visited the school on Thursday May 9 but could not shift the animals as we did not have enough vehicles. Hence, we came again prepared on Friday and did the needful. A few visual media mistook it for a raid. It is far from truth," he said.

If the forest officials not raided Sri Rama Vidya Kendra, then how did they shift the animals to Pilikula? Why did they not take any action against the management of the school earlier?Do they allow any other schools to keep animals?Padmanabha Gowda should answer to the Government and the public. Were those forest officials blind and dumb so far? Is Sri Rama Vidya Kendra got Govt permission to run an animal zoo?Is the maanagement os the school above law?

One day i was shocked to see the news that he was arrested & there was no bail given to him.. That guy had just pure love for those animals.. I still remember reading in Daiji news that poor Ithal was harassed by forest dept for treating wounded animals and taking care of them. He was raided twice. Various cases were registered against him.
LAW should be ONE and EQUAL to ALL!
It should be fully applicable to Bhat for keeping wild and endangered animals captive!!
I hope Kalladka will face serious cases shortly for endangering communal harmony and inducing religion fanatics!! Payback time to Kalladka for his deeds!!
Him losing control and power is sign of unity and indication that people are not willing to buy religion motivated divide ideology!!

jaimini P.B. Manipal
We should not jump to the conclusion that this is vendetta, revenge politics.
I think you know laws of the land better than many of us here. And also pls note ms. Reshmi Salian aptly pointed out that the new govt. still to start functioning ... as such it cannot be what you put down in your msg.
No one is allowed to rear certain birds\animals etc. privately without the permission of the respective Government authority and it has to be registered with them
Some organisations related to animal husbandry have to register with Govt. and accounts to be maintained with all income derived from these reared animals should be accounted for and cannot go to individual accounts.
These organisations also get Govt. grant, which may lure certain people of influence utilise this facility to pocket the grants through raising such private facility for animals.
Here the authorities should check what type of licence he obtained from Govt.\whether he is getting Govt. grant\ if it is just a hobby what endangered or other animals which govt. has banned are kept by him.
If everything is in order, he has nothing to be worried about. He has to answer those who are doing their duty.
Such a learned person! I am sure knows the rules and regulations for rearing various "animals" and also rules and punishment for hate speeches too.

Mr. Dayanand, Are you showing your mercy towards animals or Mr. Bhat?

Your comment indicates Mr.Bhat was doing the right thing of keeping animals in his control illegally.

Do you remember the home stay attack? The forest officials raided the house and seized the antlers of deer mounted on wooden plaques as show pieces on the walls and most of these were of animals hunted over 60 to 75 years ago.

If you can't have such show pieces then how can the government and forest officials allow live animals to be held illegally?

What if I do the same? Would you still comment and support me?

However, this is clear case of Witch-hunting.

These Law Enforcement officials should first free themselves from being pegions in cages (The Supreme Court Comment can not be restricted to only CBI but is applicable to all). It will be appreciated if they act without being partisan and not caring whether offender is in power or not.
