Udupi, Apr 26: "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a very noble man, but we do not need a noble leader. We need a strong leader who can take the country forward," said BJP chief secretary Varun Gandhi.

He was addressing a public gathering at Chittaranjan circle here on Friday April 16 as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections. Prior to his visit to Udupi, he addressed a gathering at Kaup.

He said that voters must dream big and vote not to choose an MLA or a state government but do so keeping in mind the good of the entire nation. "We should go beyond basic necessities like roads, drainage and electricity and think of the country's future at large," he said.

Reiterating his earlier statement at Bantwal the same day, he said the entire nation's eyes are on Karnataka, as the result of this election will decide the future of the country.

"There are two types of people - those who divide the country into bits and follow the policy of divide and rule, and two, those who unite people and take the country forward together. In the past 20 years, regional parties have grown to a greater extent and strengthened the political sphere in various states," he said.

Making a veiled attack at PM Manmohan Singh, he said, "Right now the UPA government is very weak, because their leaders are not self-reliant, but depend on others for everything. Our economy, internal security, youth, and women are under threat. The youth want a strong country where everyone is united, and that is true democracy. For this we need a strong government."

"Every individual should be given opportunity in politics. Our administration should not be restricted to 10-20 people. We have crores of people in our country. Till every person gets equal opportunity we cannot call ourselves democractic," he added.

"People of Karnataka have lot of self-respect. They would rather cut off heads than bow before anyone," he asserted.

Urging the people to come forward in large numbers and vote, he said, "Vote for the person you think is good. Vote not for anyone's defeat but for someone's victory."

Muzrai minister and district incharge Kota Srinivas Poojary also spoke on the occasion and said that there are a lot of internal problems within the Congress. "How can they ask for votes when they do not know who their CM candidate is? Every leader in Congress wants to be CM, but in BJP we have been sure from the start that one and only Jagadish Shettar will be the CM," he said. He also highlighted the achievements of BJP in the last five years.

Udayakumar shetty, Sudhakar Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Vilas Nayak, Shyamala Kunder, Upendra Nayak and others were present.

Speaking earlier at Kaup, Varun Gandhi called upon the people to let BJP's nationwide victory in general elections next year start with a win in Karnataka.

"The development works in Karnataka have set an example to the entire country. MLA Lalaji Mendon who has been meeting people personally has been received with much respect and honour because of the development works he has undertaken," he added.

Mendon called upon the BJP workers to go to workers with development as their agenda.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, CDA chairman Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde and others were present.

Choose BJP for a brighter future – Varun Gandhi

Silvester Dsouza
Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Apr 27: “In a short while after the conclusion of the assembly election, Lok Sabha election will be held. BJP is ever prepared to face the challenge of elections. The workers of the party too should be always be ready to face elections. In the interests of the future of the country, BJP needs to be supported and nurtured,” stressed BJP MP and national leader, Varun Gandhi.

He was addressing an electioneering meeting organized by BJP near Shastri circle in the town on Friday April 26.

BJP candidate, Kishore Kumar, questioned the propriety of the people who have won elections under the banner of BJP, leaning towards an independent candidate in Kundapur assembly constituency. He was apparently referring to the stand taken by several BJP zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat members as well as councilors, to support former BJP MLA and independent candidate, Halady Srinivas Shetty.

Kishore said that his focus will be on utilizing the grants of the government for the progress of the constituency. “I will never get entangled in situations warranting my resignation, nor will I resign from my post before the completion of my term in full like some people,” he asserted.

Minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, said that the members of the BJP who have fought and won on the symbol of the party, and who claim themselves to be BJP men, need to work for the party, not any individual. “BJP was built not in the interests of any individual. It is aimed at building a self reliant India, which can hold its head high with self respect and pride,” he explained.

Former municipal president, K Mohandas Shenoy, BJP Yuva Morcha president, Shankar Ankadakatte, and senior leader, Pundalik Naik, were present on the occasion.

Noble leader is the one who has admirable moral qualities such as courage, honesty, grand and impocing attitude.I don't know what extra qualities will have by a strong leader which Mr.Varun Gandhi refers. He is really confused about our PM and criticise him for the sake of criticism.Hope, the readers judge this well and form right opinion about our PM without getting misguided,.Thanq.

Dr.Manmohan Singh is Nobel as well as a strong leader. Since he is heading a coalition government, he could not take some bold decisions just becoz of the coalition partners who are frequently threatening to pull down his government. I personally feel Mr. Chidambaram should be the next PM. who is very strong and firm in his decision.

I could not understand most of what he said in his speech.
Only sentence I appreciate from him is "vote for the person you think is good. Vote not for anyone's defeat but for someone's victory"
which is almost everyone is professing.
I liked when he said we have to go beyond basic necessities!!!!
Please can anyone tell me what it means? Can a BJPian explain that so that I can understand that and vote for BJP?
I felt from his speech, he is very matured in politics...

Varun Gandhi : "Our economy, internal security, youth, and women are under threat".

Mr. Varun, Our economy is far better than most of the European countries and USA which took a hit during the recession. Thank the same Noble Man and the world most educated PM Mr. Manmohan Singh.

Youth and Women are really under threat because of the VHP/BAJRANGDAL and the Sena's which have grown under BJP. Where were you when Rave Party was held in Malpe? Where were you when girls were beaten up ruthlessly in Mangalore? Where you on 'Maun Vrat'? )

Come on Varun why are you scared to say directly that NaMo is not NOBLE....only strong...what worries you, expulsion? According to Varun the Great Khali can be our next PM...he's strongest among all Indians...Pity BJP...they have been fighting against Gandhis and still depend on another Gandhi for enhancing their 'reputation! may like or dislike but no one can ignore Gandhis in India!...Right BJP?...

Varun Gandhi is a great personality and an asset for any party. He is much better than Rahul in knowledge, presentation of opinions and pleasing attributes in public domain. He has a great future in politics.BJP should think of JP moment of 1975 and work on those lines benificial for poor and have nots, deprived class. That is the utlimate truth that alone can take the party to power in 2014.Otherwise Ayodhya movement etc., will not be helpful to climb the power.Party has to learn a lot from its Karnataka unit and must be ready to embrase defeat in this election and make concerted effort to identify the short comings to rectfy and present itself for 2014 general election.

Would anyone tell me what is Mr. Varun Gandhi meant by thinking large? If I donot have good roads or drainage or power... Why should I think large? If we citizen have a problem, does he want us to complain directly to PM or the Mla, if it is den I am wrong in saying that all should elect the untainted, dedicated leader from thier respective ward. Then we do not require any parties to lead us. All the elected representatives has to follow the rules set in the constitution. I donot know whether this can be applied. Educate me with proper unbiased information. Thank you.
