Fight for Congress tickets turns from bad to worse

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Apr 17: The Congress, which had smelled an opportunity to win over the hearts of the electorate this time, has a big problem at hand to handle. The open rebellion of party workers against several candidates chosen by the leaders is becoming a hard nut to crack. A number of disappointed leaders and their supporters took to streets, openly abused the party leaders, vandalized party offices at various places, and declared  open rebellion against party leadership and threatened to join other parties, on Tuesday. Still, neither Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, nor the high command seem to have made even a semblance of effort to bring the situation under control.

The tussle for supremacy between rebel star, Ambareesh, and union minister, S M Krishna in Mandya district, rebellion of candidates who are denied a ticket in Chikballapur district, and open revolt in Sriranga patna, Bhadravati, Bellary, Mulbagal, Davangere and Hebbal constituencies, have become too hot to handle for the party. With the release of the third list of official candidates by the party late night on Monday, the situation vitiated further.

In Mandya district, district Congress spokesperson, Satyananda, openly branded Ambareesh as a blackmailer. Ambareesh had threatened not to contest from Mandya constituency if ticket is not issued from Srirangapatna constituency to his loyalist, Lingaraju, in place of Ravindra Srikantaiah. The party, buckling under pressure, replaced Ravindra, a loyalist of S M Krishna, with Lingaraju, setting into motion a flurry of criticisms from party workers. Mandya district Congress has decided to remain neutral in Mandya constituency where Ambareesh is the party candidate.

In Chikballapur, followers of Anjinappa, who failed to get a ticket from the Congress, broke the window panes of the district Congress office. Anjinappa himself appeared in the presence of newspersons, and accused both S M Krishna and Veerappa Moily of hatching a conspiracy to deny him a party ticket. At Bhadravati, current MLA, Sangameshwar, who has been denied a ticket, came down heavily against the state leadership of the party for favouring Ibrahim in his place. He also has announced his decision to contest as an independent candidate. Various office bearers of the party at different levels have resigned from their posts in the constituency, to show solidarity with Sangameshwar.

In Bellary, 20 corporators threatened to resign if Diwakar Babu is denied a ticket. H M Revanna, angry over issuance of ticket to Rehman Shariff, grandson of Jaffer Shariff, instead of him from Hebbal constituency, held two meetings of his supporters. Revanna is likely to take a decision on fighting the election as an independent or on behalf of some other party, today. In Davangere, Shamanur Shivashankarappa, who has already secured a ticket from Davangere south constituency, is pressurizing the party to issue a ticket to his son, S S Mallikarjun, from Davangere north constituency.

The picture is likely to become clearer once the time for the filing of nominations ends today evening. It is a situation which is hard to grapple with, and unless efforts are made to tackle the rebellion, the party may suffer a setback in several constituencies, political analysts feel.

Victory has numerous Claimants, but defeat is Lonely. Victory has many fathers but defeat is an orphan.
Thinking that Congress will come to Power there is this clamour for seats. Had Media survey predicted that Congress will be routed , then Congress Office would have looked like Desert.

A set of questions to all:
1. Why people become crazy behind film stars? 2. Why people become crazy behind self proclaimed Godmen?
3. Why people become crazy behind politicians?
All these are different forms of hero worshiping. Have some self respect. Do not go behind these 3 opportunists.

This fight for ticket in the parties (congress and BJP} is the fall out of the present Govt. in Karnataka. People have seen how MLAs etc etc to Ministers becoming unusually very very rich in the span of just 3 to 5 years and they also want to become rich like them.
The understanding, looking at the present Govt. Ministers to the taluk\panchayat heads wealth, that this the only way to make fast quick bucks makes the party workers fight for the ticket and they organise their supporters to do all these unruly activities to blackmail the party to submit to their demands.

Are we so weak for not compromising for our own party candidate because everyone is fighting the elections on the party symbol. When the party has given so much for us,we cannot sacrifice a little for the success of the party .Very unfortunate and not acceptable attitude. Please, keep your greivences aside and join hand to win the party and not the candidate.

Congress will and should wane away by its own internal contradictions like the one now in Karnataka. No outsider is necessary to nail its coffin. Mahatma Gandhiji's last request to dissolve Congress in 1947 will come true and every congress man is working towards this.

Congress is back to their usual methods. Giving tickets to sons and daughters of leaders who are going to retire and promoting them as Youth Leaders ( fake ) under the name of Rahul Brigade. So satisfying their own leaders and taking credit for Rahul Gandhi as Youth Mascot. At the same time fielding candidates like Lad who are no better than Ganardan Reddy, bribing the voters and propagating false corruption propaganda news through media.
If people of Karnataka bring back Congress, it will be the worst mistake.

Few surveys described the INC situation as - If you want to know how to complicate an easy thing, you better ask the Congress high command in New Delhi. Karnataka voters were strongly in favour of the Congress just a month ago. Urban local body results also proved that Congress was on the upswing. Sensing certain victory, all kinds of people started lobbying for Congress tickets and the so called high command in Delhi started behaving in a highhanded manner, also playing favourites. Looks like INC will not cross 90 seats. Jai ho BJP

All People are thriving for Congress Ticket since they know very well that, Congress Party means business as usual. In India, Congress is the only one Party master mind in record breaking corruptions at high level, moreover people will get promoted to higher position as far as they flourish in corruptions in their political career. Only they have to say “Yes Madam” then they will get free pass in all Air ways bound to Delhi
