Bag containing Rs 37 lakh stolen from car

Mumbai, Feb 16 (PTI): Unidentified persons stole a bag containing Rs 37 lakh cash from a businessman's car by diverting the attention of a property agent sitting inside the vehicle in Fort area of south Mumbai, police said today.

According to police, Jagdish Gadiya (57) drove his wife and the property agent to Fort area last evening.

"Gadiya stopped his vehicle to visit a building. He along with his wife got down and walked towards the building while the property agent Hitesh Sanghvi (45) was sitting inside the car," Padmakar Juikar, senior inspector at MRA Marg police station, said.

In the meantime, an unidentified person struck a conversation with Sanghvi stating the latter had dropped a Rs 10 note on the road.

"Sanghvi got down from the car to collect the cash. When he returned, he could not find the bag that contained the cash of Rs 37 lakh," Juikar said.

"The accused must have dropped Rs 10 note on the road to divert the attention of Sanghvi. He and his accomplice then laid their hands on the bag before escaping. The accused may or may not be knowing that there was a huge cash in the bag," he added.

An FIR has been registered and further probe was on.

Police should check and get the details soon. Fort area is very dangerous. In 1989, one worker used to come and go to Madras on office work. He used carry one lakh in a small plastic bag. One day he got out of office in the evening and was moving in the same area for a long time instead of coming to office. Some jaadu had happened. some body had did a mantra nd his one lakh was gone in brevli road area, Fort, Mumbai. the management decided to deduct the amount from his salary in installments. So we have to be very very careful when carrying money. My wife lost 10,000/- from her bag when lady chors stolefrom her bag in railway while travelling. Some snatch the ear rings. While going for work to Lower Parel, some guys gave injection to my hand which I could not make out and my golden orient watch was gone. When I reached office, I felt my hand is very light. The next day my hand was swollen for three days. At Andheri east my purse was stolen when I caught the crowded bus to Seepz. Suddenly I realised, got down as I had no money, went to police station and wrote a stolen report which was of no use at all.
