Poll schedule unclear yet; Assembly members pose for group photo

Bangalore, Feb 13: First, the Jagadish Shettar-led BJP regime completed the exercise of presenting the annual budget for the ensuing financial year 2013-14 well ahead of even the Union Budget or by any of the other States.

And now, with three more months to go for completing the term of the present Karnataka Legislative Assembly, the members of the lower house posed for the ritual group photo in front of Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.

Undoubtedly, the State Government as well as the members of both the ruling and opposition parties are getting ready for winding up the end of the term.

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Deputy Chief Ministers R Ashok and K S Eshwarappa, Speaker K G Bopaiah, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar and several ruling and Opposition members participated in the photograph session.

However, Congress Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and JD(S) floor leader in the House H D Revanna and a few other members missed the opportunity.

Many members, who missed the opportunity, said they were unaware or forgotten the programme, which was held before commencement of the session.

The ongoing budget session will be the last session of the 13th Legislative Assembly.

The sechedule for the State Assembly elections are likely to be announced any time soon and, according to informed sources, the assembly polls might probably be held sometime in May as the final examinations for SSLC and Colleges are due in the next two months.
