Mumbai, Feb 12: The two-day sports meet to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of Devadiga Sports Club was inaugurated by Jaya C Suvarna, president of National Billava Mahamandala.
Aikala Harish Shetty, vice president of World Bunts Federation, Dinesh R Devadiga of state Devadiga Sangh, Harish Sherighar of Devadiga Association Mumbai, Gopal M Moily of Akshaya Cooperative Credit Society Mumbai, Sham N Shetty, vice president of Bombay Bunts Association, L V Amin, president of Mumbai Billava association, Surendra Poojary, working president of Saicare logistics, K Chandra Shekar, secretary of Bangalore Devadiga Association, M Ganesh, retired police higher officer, Vishwanath Shetty, chief secretary of Nasik Association, K Mohan Das, working president of golden jubilee committee, K Bujanghadar, advisor of golden jubilee celebration committee, H Jaya, working president of Devadiga Sports Club were the chief guests.
Jaya Suvarna in his inaugural address said that sports meet is the symbol of unity.
Aikala Harish Shetty said that only those organizations can achieve success which works without expectations.
In Mumbai, community-based organizations have achieved a lot, and Devadiga community too should do the same, said Chandrasekhar Palthadi.
Honorary secretaries of Mumbai Devadiga Association Sundhar C Moily, Janardhana Sherighar S, Padmanabha Devadiga, advisors of golden jubilee celebration committee K Bujanghadar, Gopal M Moily, Rathnakar A Bangera, Vasu S Devadiga, Ravi S Devadiga, K Bhaskar Rao, Suresh S Rao, K N Devadiga, Ravi A Ullala, deputy working president Anand R Devadiga, Raghu A Moily, Pushpa S Rao, Ranjani R Moily, Malathi J Moily, Suresh R Devadiga, Suresh Kanwathirtha, and other members were present on the occasion.
Anjuman school children welcomed the guests with Chande mala.
Athletes from Mangalore, Udupi, Byndoor, Bhatkal, Shrooru, Shirshi, Hiriadka took part.
N P Salian, founder of Sports Club, Vasanth Salian, Bhaskar, Vasudeva Adiga, secretary, who were felicitated for their several years of service.
Hiriyadka Mohandas, president of Mumbai Devadiga Association welcomed, Surekha Devadiga and Aishwarya Moily lit the sports torch. K Mohandas proposed the vote of thanks.
