Kannur: Blind Love - Girl Faints After 'Lover' Turns out to be 67-year-old!

Kannur: Blind Love - Girl Faints After 'Lover' Turns out to be 67-year-old!

Daijiworld Media Network

Kannur (Kerala), Nov 13: They say love is blind. In this case, indeed it was.

Technology has made it easier for people to find love, and at the same time, proved to be haven for imposters.

A 23-year-old girl, an engineering post-graduate from Thiruvananthapuram, thought she was the love of a man she had been talking to on the phone for over a year. She too had evidently fallen for him, believing everything he said.

She had the shock of her life when her 'lover' later turned out be a 67-year-old man!

Despite talking on the phone for months, the two had never met. For their first meeting, the man had asked her to come to a particular bus stop, which she did. However, there was no sign of the man even after a long wait.

The locals who spotted the girl linger at the bus stop for so long grew suspicious and informed the police. She was then escorted to the Kotthuparmapa police station where she spilled the beans about her 'love affair'.

The police called the man's number and directed him to come to the police station. The man,  whose name some sources claimed to be Ibrahim, did as he was told.

The girl, on finding that her secret lover had turned out be a 67-year-old man with grey hair, fainted of shock and despair. She later told the police that he had given her his name as 'Hamza'.

In his defense, the man claimed that he had no intention to hurt her and was speaking to her for 'fun'. He also said that he had tried to tell her she had mistaken him for someone else, but she wouldn't listen, and that is why he had set up the meeting to make matters clear. He even claimed that he had never called that girl and that it was she who called him several times a week.

The girls parents who were called to the police station had another version to give - that their daughter never had a mobile phone, and may have been calling from a friend's phone or the landline.

The girl was sent back home with the parents.

@ Joseph M Gonsalves , Bannoor Puttur Mangalore. I differ with your comment . Not even a single religion opposed polygamy and its very common in some countries ( specially middle east , asia , latin america ). Some places its very cultural but it has nothing do with overal economy of country. Infact countries which baned polygamy ( like states and europe ) have high divorce rates and also marital crimes. Saudi other hand has shariat , much less crimes ( but death punishment is barbaric ). Projecting polygamy as immoral or sin is a recent developement by women activists and feminists . Still what is written in holy books followed worldwide.

Polygamy need to be curbed and where ever polygamy is adopted those countries are suffering silently and they cannot raise voice because they are oppressed.

The nation of Saudi Arabia is the world largest number of divorces in the world

I quote:ARAB NEWS 18TH August 2002 by M. Ghzaanfar Ali khan Arab news staff TOP LAWYER WARNS AGAINST GROWING DIVORCE CASES
ZAMIL SHABEB AL-RAKAD

The Saudi attorney quoted quranic verses to substantiate his arguments about divorce and family life in the kingdom, a total of 16,725 weddings out of 81,576 ended in divorce between March 2000-2001.This represent 20.5% of all marriages solemnized & finally broke up in Saudi Arabia indicating a threat to society. POLYGAMY, NOT ECONOMIC FACTORS, IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 55% OF DIVORCES TAKING PLACE IN THE COUNTRY ACCORDING TO A REPORT PUBLISHED RECENTLY.

I cannot disagree with Prescilla's comments. However, the old man played with the girl's emotions deliberately hiding his age. He is insincere to himself.

I think the girl had a change of heart only when her affair which was confidential for several months became public, and due to the fact "police" got involved in her private affairs.

After all irrespective of their age, both have the right to love and appreciate the companionship of each other and perhaps take it to the right levels.

67 year is not 'old' by any standards in todays world. I pity on this man , looks like he was not confident. Girls was also bit old ( 23 ) , so the guy should have faced girl boldy . It could have worked , if she realy loves him . @shanti dubai , having four wives is ones personel decission , u cannot call it wrong if it goes against your feminist propaganda. Remember , untill late ninteenth century , polygamy was very common and legal in christian and muslims ( pls read old testament ) too.

Shanti, Dubai said Quote “Lucky Ali, Mangalore/Batwal: What is God fearing? having 4 wives at a time and divorcing ? falling in love is not natural?” Unquote. Ms Shanti Dubai do you know anything about 4 wives at a time. Please try to understand something about Islam and 4 wives & Talakh then comment, if you does not anything about 4 wives and Talakh then better not to comment please, it means you are mis guiding the readers. The whole world is misunderstood about 4 wives and Talakh even some of Muslims are do not know about the 4 wives & Talakh. In Islam Shariat permitted/allowed to marry upto four wives only if he can make equal justice (even he cannot make 0.1% also injustice between his wives) between his wives otherwise Shariat does not allow to marry more than one wife. About the Talakh, Shariat allowed Talakh in the least condition and only if couple could not resolve the difference at any cost finally he can divorce as per Shariat and not as per your comment or as per some peoples are doing what now (divorcing and marrying another). If any couple started misconception and misunderstanding etc. etc. between them they should patch up themselves (within the family members) but Talakh is not so easy in Islam when the husband says Talakh 3 times at one time but each talakh should have one period of time (month) to patch up their problems if it is not resolved in that period he can say second Talakh to patch up the problems once again to patch up the differences so I cannot explain details of Talakh in this comment. Ms Shanti Dubai if you need more information about Talakh and 4 wives better to contact Muslim scholar instead of Muslim. But in this case girl is fool how she trust anyone who just in phone from one year.

Wow so many comments! what is wrong in this episode. Is there is a maximum age limit for the marriage. Or is there a specific law that there should be certain age gap between two lovers. What is wrong if a female wait in the bus shelter. Why someone should take a lead to complain to the police. If a guy can hang around 24 hours in the bus shelter and cause trouble to girls no one complains. Common guys come out of all these, let the people enjoy their life style in their own way and if there is anything outside the law, then complain. I dont see any big deal in these... Also, please do not disrespect or sarcastic. Thank god that person has lived until 67. Hope and pray the these commentators will see that age in their life.

People like Post Graduates, Young age & good family back ground no need to believe in love marriage. “Rista” will come to your door steps searching for these kinds of Brides or Grooms. I think some how to certain extent we have to blame none other than technological revolution only. Yes it is true that “Pyaar Andha Hai” but human beings are not blind & deaf!!! Use some principles of “Degree of Testing” before you fall prey to this kind of Wolves in the Society

Falling in love is natural
But with stranger not cultural
Before marriage, is equal to immoral

Having 4 wives is just optional
