Mangalore: Congress Party Workers' Convention in Sullia, Puttur on Sep 22

Mangalore, Sep 18:
"Congress party workers’ convention will be organized on September 22 in Sullia and Puttur at 2 pm and 4 pm respectively," said district Congress president and Bantwal MLA B Ramanath Rai at a press meet held at district Congress office here on Tuesday September 18.
 
Union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily will be attending the convention, he said.

On the centre's move to reducing the number of subsidized LPG cylinders to 6 per year, Rai said that the number should be increased. On FDI coming into Indian economy, Rai said that central government’s decision will increase job opportunities and already the share market has seen shown positive response.
 
S S Prakasham, president KPCC labour department, said that the UPA government has released Rs 4,500 crore for the unorganized labour sector in the state, however, awareness programmes will be initiated by the labour wing of the party to benefit labourers in the state. "In DK district, 25,000 members will be included in the party’s labour wing in as many as 8 constituencies of the district," he said.

"Injustice is being done to construction workers by the government and the Congress labour cell will reach out to them," he added.
 
Mayor Gulzar Banu, former mayors Shashidhar Hegde and Ashraf, Suresh Ballal, Ivan D’Souza, P V Mohan, T K Sudhir among others were present at the press meet.
