Doha : Gulf Voice of Mangalore Semis on Sep 21

Doha, Sep 3 : Gulf Voice of Mangalore season - 3 is back in the news. After preliminary rounds in all six participating Gulf countries, preparations are now on for the semi-finals.

Doha-Qatar, the host country of GVOM -3 finals, has announced the date for its semi-finals. Five female and six male singers will contest for a spot in the finals on September 21 at Al Ghazal Club.

One each from male and female categories will qualify for the finals to be held in Doha on October 19, 2012.

Three known musicians from Mangalore will be flown in as judges for the semi-finals - Singer-composer Prem Kumar Nandigudda (Prem Lobo), composer, lyricist Alwyn Noronha from Bajpe and Ashith Pinto and ace musician Ashith Pinto from Bangalore.

Cyril Gregorty Sequeira, popularly known as 'Cjyes or CGS' Taccode, who is well-known for his humour writing and compering will compere the show.

The event will also mark the traditional Nativity fest in Qatar by organizers Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), said its president Harry Lobo.

Veena Pais nee Rebimbus, chief co-ordinator of GVOM - 3 said that the 'Gulf Voice of Mangalore' fever is slowly catching around the Gulf, as people are back home from their vacation. "Tough contest is expected from all the six participating countries," she said.

Kuwait, UAE, Doha, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia are participating in the contest.
