Mangalore, Aug 23: Ravishankar Mijar, chief secretary of Billawara Sanghatanegala Ekikarana Samithi said that the Samithi has been commenced on March 4 with the object of uplifting the Billawa community.

Addressing a press conference held at the press club here on Wednesday August 22, he said that the people of Billawa community were scattered in different unions and associations and hence failed to progress in the society. Now, with the proper guidance of people with the mindset of uniting the community, they have formed the ‘Billawara Sanghatanegala Ekikarana Samithi’ which would be a non political organization.

He complained that the Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union, instead of acting as a guiding force for the whole community, was interested in uplifting only a few people in the community. The union forfeited all norms and conditions and the office bearers did not involve all the members of the union in their annual general meetings. The election for the new office bearers were not held since many years.

On February 21 , a few recognized members, as per the union’s by law, were not admitted even after making demands."They used police force and goons to send the members out of the meeting hall,” he said and added that the assurance of union’s office bearers to deliver justice has proved false, hence the Billawara Sanghatanegala EkikaranaSamithi will unite the people of the community and work in their favor.

M Sitaram,president, K L Poojari, K A Devendra, Chandresh J E, B P Divakar, vice presidents,Ravikumar Poojari, treasurer were present at the press meet.

Indeed a good move.According to Brahmashri Narayana Guru Swamiji all should unite together to become more stronger.Do we really need splinter groups ? All local groups (Samaja Seva Sanghas) should join hand to strengthen the community.
