Kundapur: Surveyor Jumps over Wall, Gives Lokayukta the Slip During Raid!

Kundapur, Aug 22:
In an amusing incident, a surveyor, fearing Lokayukta interrogation and perhaps arrest, jumped over a wall on the rear end of his office and escaped, even as Lokayukta raided the office here on Wednesday August 22.

The Lokayukta raided the local land survey office and geological department, Byndoor survey division, after a complaint was filed by Uppunda Gram Panchayat member Ravichandra.

A week ago Ravichandra had applied for conversion of his 14.5 cents land and wanted surveryor Manjappa to prepare a blueprint. However, Manjappa kept demanding Rs 3000 from Ravichandra for carrying out his duty. The latter brought this to the notice of Lokayukta.

On Wednesday, as soon as the Lokayukta sleuths arrived, Manjappa jumped over the rear wall and absconded. Officials have noted that he left behind his mobile phone and footwear while escaping.

Lokayukta inspector B P Dinesh Kumar said that their visit was based on complaints by the public. "Many files are pending and more details will be furnished after the investigation," he said.

Inspector C A Thimmaiah and staff Divakar Suvarna, Nagesh Udupa, Riyaz Ahmed, Shivaraya, Shreedhar, Umesh and Santhosh were part of the raid operation.

There were numerous complaints from the public with regard to corruption in the survey office which is attached to the special tahsildar office. This is the third Lokayukta raid on the Byndoor tahsildar office.

Byndoor special tahsildar said that if public have any grievances with the revenue department, the same can be brought to his notice for immediate action.

all these corruptions starting from village office and village office assistant (Ugrani) is the middle man to collect the bribe and he distribute all department officials. the higher officer does not take bribe directly from clients hand, its handled by these middle man. so lokayuktha police concentrate the movements of these Ugranees.

Majority of the Govt. employees right from Peon to top officer are taking bribe. A provision should be made in the law that all these employees including retired employees are to be investigated for thier richness. This fear may make them think twice while demanding bribe. These people are beggers.

May be this is not related, but all please note whenever you go to any bank to withdraw cash in India, please count the notes, unless they are bondled and sealed by bank. It is very common you will find one or two notes missing, normally NRI's just take the money and keep in the pocket. I have caught couple of cashiers in the bank and warned them and not complained. This is a deliberate act be beware.

IN SPITE OF VALIANT EFFORTS BY ANNA TEAM CORRUPTION IS DEEP ROOTED IN OUR SYSTEM.
THIS MAN MUST BE SUCH A LEACH THAT PEOPLE GOT FED UP OF HIM.
I REMEMBER THE STORY OF A GREEDY RTO OFFICER WHO WAS TAKING HAFTA WITH BOTH HANDS STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FROM TRUCK DRIVERS ON BOTH SIDES.
ONE PUNJABI TRUCKEE JUST CRUSHED HIM TO DEATH.
CORRUPT GOVT AND NON GOVT PEOPLE IN HIGH POSITIONS MUST REALIZE SOONER OR LATER THAT THERE CAN BE VIOLENT CONSEQUENCES FROM THE OPPRESSED PUBLIC.

Dear Lokayukta, please do not concentrate one surveyor. All the surveyor in this office are corrupt. please take your investigations to their houses and you will find the amount of black money they have amassed. donot leave a single surveyor from your checking. The public is willing to pay to these surveyors but not as they demand. THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT FOR EVERY THING

Thomas DMello, Hanglur, Kundapura

In Kundapura, among all the government offices, Survey Dept is the most corrupt placeamong all the offices. Nothing works here officially. However with influence or bribe (or both), one can get the job done. This is my own experience.
