Kundapur: Udayakumar, Brother of Halady Srinivas, Commits Suicide

Kundapur, Aug 9: In a startling incident, Udayakumar Shetty, brother of former BJP MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty was found dead in his hometown Halady here on Thursday August 9. He was 52.
Udayakumar, a farmer by profession, was found hanging in his house at around 6 pm. He reportedly returned from Bangalore on Thursday morning.
The reason behind the extreme step is still a mystery. It is said that he shared a very good rapport with Srinivas Shetty and there was no family or financial problem.
However, it is said that Udayakumar was unhappy and hurt that his brother Srinivas was denied a ministerial berth in the Shettar government which made the latter resign from his MLA post.
Udayakumar pursued his education in Bhandarkars' College, where, in 1981-82, he was the president of the student council. He was a well-liked youth leader, popular in Halady for his helping nature.
Udayakumar is survived by his mother, wife, three brothers including Halady Srinivas, and four sisters.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the district. As soon as the news spread, a large number of well-wishers and supporters flocked to his residence.
