Mangalore Airport to Mark Diamond Jubilee with Health and Blood Donation Camp

Mangalore, Aug 8: Mangalore airport will organize a health and blood donation camp as part of its diamond jubilee celebration,  said K Tejomaya, chief coordinator of the Mangalore airport diamond jubilee celebration committee at a press meet here on Wednesday August 8.

The health and blood donation camp will be held at Ravindra Kala Bavan in Hampankatta University College on Sunday August 19.

The camp is jointly organized by airport authority of Mangalore, Mangalore airport sports control board, Indian Red Cross society and by Nitte University.

Tejomaya said that general health checkup, free medicines, free eye test with distribution of spectacles, blood donation, free dental checkup and so on will be provided by medical representatives of Nitte University’s Kshema hospital under the guidance of Dr Shantharam Shetty, president of Indian Red Cross Society.

On that day Kshema will also distribute health cards to the poor. "People who want to avail the benefits of the card are requested to participate in the camp," he said.

Shravan Kumar, secretary of Mangalore airport sports control board said around 500 to 600 people are expected to take part in the camp. "The blood collected through the blood donation camp will be distributed to Wenlock and Lady Goshen hospital so that the poor will benefit from it," he added.

Canara Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Mangalore University, Yashashwini Women’s forum, Balmatta, Dakshinna Kannada auto drivers union, airport tourist taxi car owners association and airport workers union are lending their support to the camp.

Ravindranath from Red Cross Society and Devdas were present.
