Dubai: Beary's Cultural Forum Raises Funds for Needy Students at Iftar Party

Dubai, Aug 8: The Iftar Party 2012 was conducted at the Sudanese Social Club Hall in Dubai, UAE.  Snack items, fruits, juice, sweets and biryani with chicken fry and tea etc. was offered during the occasion.

The event started with the Qirat competition for children below 10 years age judged by several learned Ustads. After the quran competition, Ustad Abbas Manjanadi delivered a talk on the importance and benefits of Ramadan.  More than 700 people attended BCF’s Iftar Party 2012.  There were several guests from the Bearys who also attended this function.  The Qirat competition was organised by Tanveer and Ibrahim Dubal.

After the Iftar Party, the scholarship contribution function was conducted. Tanveer conducted the quran recitation and welcome address was delivered by Dr Kaup Mohamed.  Abdul Lathif Mulky, the chairman of the BCF Iftar committee conveyed his Iftar best wishes to all the audience and also stated that this Iftar Party would not have been successful without the support of all the members.

Dr B K Yusuf, the president of the BCF addressed the gathering and bestowed them the best wishes of Ramadan.  He applauded M E Moolur for the task done during the Scholarship Meet. He also applauded the chairman of the Iftar committee Abdul Latif Mulky, his co-associates Saleem Althaf, Khaleel Basha, Afeeq,  M E Moolur, Ameeruddin Medicari, Ameeruddin SI, Rafique Mulky, Nafees Group members, Kisar, Parvez Zakaria, Sajpa, Nawaz Kotekar, Ashraf Satikal,  etc.  Yusuf requested the audience to donote generously for the noble cause of education to the poor people.

Dr Yusuf also congratulated and thanked the Rulers of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates for the holy month of Ramadan and their support given to the expatriate population in the UAE.  Shabeer Hussain, CEO and director- International Sales, IFCO and Praveen Shetty, chairman and MD, Fortune Group of Hotels, were the Special Guests of Honor during the BCF Iftar Party 2012.

Shabbir Hussain conveyed his best wishes to all the members of the BCF for doing this great job of arranging scholarship to the poor people of the State of Karnataka. Praveen Shetty said that he was very overwhelmed to see this gathering and also said that his support to the BCF will definitely be there for the upliftment of the poor people.  

Other guests included Abdul Jabber Mulky, Abdul Hameed Gantalkatta, Kader Bajpe and also committee members on and off the stage.


Kaup Mohamed, the general secretary began with the scholarship contribution announcement.  Kaup stated that students have applied for scholarship in various categories such as PUC, BCom, BSc, Diploma in Engineering, B E, Diploma in Finance and Accounting, BCA, BBM, MBA, MSW, Diploma in Education, Journalism Course, Islamic course, MBBS course, BAMS course, BDS, MSc, and Nursing Course etc. 

Dr Kaup stated that around 5000 applications are received every year from the poor people of the coastal Karnataka, out of which selected 400 students are normally given scholarship every year.  Dr Kaup also mentioned that the scholarship this time will go to all the communities of the coastal Karnataka.

Several people who attended the Iftar Party committed their contribution for providing scholarship to the poor people.  Hassan Darwish, the chairman of the Darvish Group of Companies, UAE has given a commitment to adopt around 8– 10 poor and deserving students from coastal Karnataka and he will be providing scholarship until they complete their studies.  

Praveen Shetty and Shabbir Hussain  wholeheartedly donated towards educational scholarship for the poor students.  The BCF has also placed on record the immense contribution made by its Patron Thumbay Moideen, the president of the Gulf Medical University, Dr B K Yusuf, Razak Dewa, other BCF Committee members and several other donors from the Beary community.

The Ladies wing of BCF also collected the scholarship amount. Several lady members generously contributed to the scholarship work.  BCF is expected to provide educational scholarship to more than 400 students on 26th August 2012 at the St. Aloysius College Hall, Mangalore.  

The Committee placed on record the contribution of all the delegates and all the members and the committee stated that this will always be admired and remembered and may almighty “Allah” shower his gracious blessings to all of them at all times. 

Finally, vote of thanks was proposed by M E Moolur.  He thanked all the contributors, press officials, all the sponsors, officials of Sudanese club, Ibrahim Janahee, Hussain (Tiffany), Abdul Lathif Mulky, M.E. Moolur, Dr Yusuf, Aboosalih, Saleem Althaf, and all the dedicated members who assisted and contributed at the BCF Iftar Party. 

The Managing Committee applauded the Iftar Committee Chairman Abdul Lathif Mulky Altaf and his team members and also all the other members for their dedication and support from time to time, to make this function a grand success.
