Activists Wrong, but Immoral Behaviour should be Checked - Pejawar Swamiji

Activists Wrong, but Immoral Behaviour should be Checked - Pejawar Swamiji

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi

Udupi, Aug 2: Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math on Wednesday August 1 condemned the July 28 attack on boys and girls at Morning Mist Home Stay at Padil by a group of HJV activists.

"We strongly condemn the attack by the activists who took law into their own hands and assaulted young women," stated a media release from Pejawar Math.

Pejawar Swamiji, however, pointed out that people should also view the incident in another angle. "As per media reports, the residents of Padil said that young boys and girls had been consuming alcohol and dancing obscenely in the home stay for the past several days. Media has reported that illegal activities have been going on in the home stay. Isn't it essential to investigate this matter and find out the truth?" he questioned.

"Is it not the duty of citizens to protest against illegal and immoral activities? There is no doubt that the activists were wrong in taking law into their own hands, but how can immoral activities in home stays be curbed if there is police inaction?"

"Instead of 'gundagiri'  hundreds of people must come together and stage a peaceful protest. People should create awareness on the issue. It is not enough that youngsters condemn the incident with strong words, they should also condemn immoral behaviour in equal measure. Media and thinkers are also expected to put in their efforts in this regard," stated Pejawar Swamiji.

I don't agree... What is moral and what is immoral depends on the individual and not for other people to decide. Unless is directly affecting someone else, i don't think anyone has the right to interfere in anyone's personal life...

shall we all follow the path of SWAMI NITYANANDA and all his moral activities ?

so what is moral or immoral is left to the person.

we are not here to judge.

If there was no immorality (in that birthday party) then you create one! This is a very old adage.
That is why Hinjave goons carried with them packets of Ganja,Drug and Condom for placing the same secretly in that room and then justify their attack by branding it as 'Rave-Party'. But their diabilic plot failed because of the presence of TV cameramen. Goons were afraid that they will be caught in their act and exposed in the camera like Kadri police were caught in a massage parlour while slipping condom in the drawer of the parlour manager. God only saved those innocent student from this very crooked plot of Hinjave goons. Had the goons succeeded whole world, including parents of students, would have thought that their children are drug addicts and shunned them forever. The life and education of the sudents would have been ruined permanently.

No one is supposed to tell anyone what to wear what not to and how much to expose or reveal. Let this be at society's/people's disposal to choose what they are comfortable with. We blindly blame the West for all the bad happening without a look at ourselves. Seriously guys/gals why can't men and woman discard this western influence and wear dhoti to college, work place and everywhere instead of jeans pants, which is worn by every male and female, whatever may be their social or economic occasion Gentlemen, reminds me of what the great Mahatma Gandhiji said once "See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil". Karnataka people are still living in the 70s.

I thank Shree swamiji for condemning the attack. However, These goons may be "activists" for swamiji for me they are "anti social elements equal to terrorists". Same way what is immoral for Swami or Priest may not be immoral for young generation.

With due respect Swamiji,

As you are saying that drinking and dancing is illegal and immoral activities. Moral is some thing its defers from individual to individual. So we cannot impose it on someone, About Illegal activities, what was illegal in the party. Is parting is illegal? If yes can some one tell me under which law its illegal. Alcohol is sold in shops with license and about 70% of the money goes to government as tax, hence alcohol is legal. And lets talk about the dress code. If such kind of dresses are not supposed to wear, then why shops are selling these cloths, why cant you protest against those shops which are selling 'Half naked cloths'.

One more request swamiji, As most of the politicians in the ruling party listens to you, why don't you tell them to bring some laws to restrict the sale of alcohol and 'Half naked Cloths'. Once the law is passed then we can have an investigation on this incident.

Dear Pejavara Swami,

Do not generalise the matters. In this particular incident, how you can judge that illegal things have happened.

"India is a democratic country. There are laws of the land, Law enforcement agencies and Justice system"

I think these things work only in books and papers. Not in reality.

Law of the land is there to take care of the issues and there is provision in the indian penal code, in the judidcial system and in our constitution against these so called illegal actvities, but there are designated govt machinery and people in uniform and non uniform to check on these and take action Who are these drunken activist. This seer still justify the action indirectly calling them as activists..Let these activists stay around temples and mutts and do the morale policing on the devotees and guard the temple from theft and burglary. Why this swami didnt speak when muslim students went on strike opposing head scarf ban?? why the double standard from this saffrondhari??. As long as BJP is indirectly controlled by these double mouthed clergies, such problem would be the order of the day. Ony solution is to vote them out of power and confine these clergies to masjids, mandirs, mutts, temples, churches. they dont have any say in politics....... thats it and its clear.

India is a democratic country. There are laws of the land, Law enforcement agencies and Justice system in place. We do not need YOUR Morality rules on top of these. You and your people are free to observe YOUR morality. DO NOT FORCE YOUR MORALITY ON OTHERS.

With due respect to Swamiji,
could you please make a list of Moral and Immoral activities in India please. What you consider immoral is moral in other parts of India and the world. What you consider moral may be immoral in other parts of the world and abroad.
Here we are protecting our younger generation from the criminal attacks, hooliganism and terrorist attacks like Taj Mahal.
Whether it is an Inn, Motel, Hotel, Resort, star hotels it all come under the same banner as tourism. If any intruders come they are branded as Terrorists.

Suhim Sheikh, Udupi/Bangalore

But on what basis can you distinguish what is moral and immoral and who is authorised to decide that ? .Can you decide that on the basis of dress a person wears ?? or even the drinks that a person consumes ??or the type of dance a person performs ???. Something immoral to me, might be moral to all the rest ...

Media has also reported that the attackers also drunk... Truth is that as per the law, attacking on woman or anybody is offence as per indian IPC sections
And u mean Drinking and dancing it was not like that it was celebration celebration of bday party..
And u sai the neighbourhood was disturbed by this party I do not know how will u react when there was lots of noise during diwali with fire crackers, ganapthi festival, Astami, holi etc. In the name of festival there was lots of abuse on waman tooo and also a noice pollution... Thease things are your culture because your culture is disturbing other peace....

The religion and culture should unite the society. But it is unfortunate that the same religion and culture is dividing Dakshina Kannada over the past few years. The concept of religion and culture has changed since the beginning of globalization. It is very important to change our perception about these in the changing world. Evolution is an unavoidable phenomena and it is the only way for the survival of humanity.
