Mangalore: Lucky Escape for School Kids as Speeding Youngsters Cause Accident

Mangalore, Jul 20: Two youngsters were taken into police custody here on Friday July 20 after their car caused a serial accident and itself turned turle.

The accident occured at S L Mathias Road in Falnir near St Mary's School. It was a miraculous escape for scores of children, as school was just about to leave.

The boys, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, are said to be around 20 years old.

The boy who was driving hit a Maruti Omni and then an auto rickshaw parked in front of the school. Out of fear of getting caught, he sped away towards S L Mathias Road, and there he turned to the extreme right at a high speed. He lost control and the car turned turtle.

The auto rickshaw he hit was ferrying children, but luckily no one was injured in the entire episode.

Ironically, the car landed right in front of the 'School Zone - Drive Slow' sign board!

The front portion of the Hyundai i20 car (KL 14 J 3055) he was driving has been completely smashed.

The accident caused traffic jam at the spot for sometime. Locals and police helped in clearing the car.

Kadri traffic police have registered a case.

It is to be noted here that had the accident taken place even five minutes later, the lives of many innocent children would have been at risk. At school leaving time, children in this particular lane are seeing running around to their autos and vehicles, and hence, traffic rules need to be adhered to strictly. It was sheer luck that the youngsters escaped without causing any injury.

strict action needed for such cases and capital punishment for parents too and the person who owns that car.. but i am sure few people will influence our police and tie their hands.. there are many people from kasaragod district will roam in mangalore with high end cars/bike just to impress and spoil innocent girls who are at age or 15 to 20.. so parents be careful.

first i thank god to save lots of kids,in these kids my daughter also there.secondly i thank daijiworld & daya kukaje. Sir i m working in dubai,i see all ur picture of this incident,c in ur photo near scholl gate my daughter cross the road after this incident,she going school in van,so many big students are there in a van also,but we r thinking our friends drivers & pick safely our children,but c here wht they r doing i ask my daughter y ur uncle driver not cmg near the gate 2 pick u,they said no ,y l(not all drivers ) some drivers doing like this,so plz drivers plz dont do like that.,we are giving respect to all of u because all are givng gud public service..Now about that 17 year car driver,RTO,cancel that car owners driving licence lifetime,this is punishment for that owner y given car to drive a person vthout licence,take both owner of vehicle& that guys photo send all India RTO.otherwise they go 2 other placee and make once again driving licence& playing vth other persons life same like 2day.

I read Kannada newspaper (Udayavani) today. 17 year old driver's name is Farhan, just completed his 2nd puc.
Recently one boy went to ladies hostel wearing burkha and with in one week another boy drives vehicle without license. very strange !!!!!

I was present when the incident took place the boy name is farhan and he stays in vas lane.His age is 17 and no driving license.The driver was on moblie conversation and he had come their at 3.15 pm just to see the high school girls.Most of the boys come during this school leaving time in bikes and cars just to showoff.Few incidents of eveteasing has been reported and cops were stationed for few days.Their is no speed breakers the parents and the school trip drivers manage the traffic during the school leaving time as the road is also narrow.I even visited the kadri police station they told he is underage and atmost only a fine of Rs 2500 will be charged since it is a bailable offence since the rules are such it means anybody can escape easily.We the general public should take some action regardig these rash drivers.

driver was a boy of 17 year without licence.identity is not given so as to manipulate the things and even if children life were lost they would have planted a poor driver in his place to save this irresponsible boy parents should be punished in such cases

Signal Lights must be installed in the school zone and also monitoring cameras. For School children pedestrain crossing overbridge must be built, so that the safety of the school children is important. Children are the future of our nation and the world. Why no details of the culprits, hope they belongs to a filthy rich family,Authority must seek in to the complete episode,SUSPEND their DRIVING LICENCE for 3 years also PUNISH the parents,in todays date in M'lore many care less incidents happening but not recorded,Good job Daiji,keep it up.Our young generation should know what is their resposibilities.( Truely its thw Lucky Escape innocent school children,God bless)

The youngster who was driving this car should have died as in future nobody would be killed by him. This guy would have killed lot of innocent kid's just because he wanted to impress people by over speeding. Now as this guy is alive, sincere request to officials..please cancel his license. Never allow him to drive any vehicle. Strict punishment should be given. Law breaker's should not be spared. There should be strict rules for traffic violations and over speeding.

Why the boys name was not given to the police or the media. Dayanand Kukkaje your pictures were great and that clearly shows the speed in which the youngsters were driving. this 20year old children dont no to drive, when sitting in staring seat they will think that they are the pilot. the cars also has some limitations,we test that we are strong it is a michine and it is strong not the 20year old hot blood.

Every 2nd vehicle in our Mangalore city is of KL registration. Traffic Police may have to check these vehicles and owners thoroughly. Young blood, such things do happen regularly. Thank God, He saved the children as well as pedestrians.

It is not new but a regular affair. Scores of boys with shady characters roaming around the school on bikes and cars eve teasing the girls .They all sit near the SL Mathias park and around the shops nearby. If u walk on that road you will find many of these good for nothing fellows nicely dressed with bikes and sun glasses smoking. I dont know why the police keep quite of look the other side. If something is done fast we have more trouble from these characters.

I fail to understand, why there is no speed breaker near the school zone. After repair work this road has become very smooth, so youngster take jolly ride. pl put a heavy speed breaker on both side. I request respective authorities to take strict action who ever it may be. Thank God for saving kids

For heaven's sake... Put the parents behind bars... Lessons are never learnt. I am sure the boys had no license.. Parents are the ones who teach their children to drive and then are unable to control them when they take the keys of the car. If they have no concern for their kids, fine.. Why kill some innocent person on the street? You know what will happen now? Some innocent man with a license will be paid a huge amount and made to accept that he was behind the wheel when the car met with the accident. Police, I suppose with a little bribe amount will accept the case and shut the whole thing... until it happens again... Jai Ho India.
