This situation is very strange, i.e.
In any ladies hostel where there is a guard, one would expect a guest/visitor book, and of course even though the person was burkha clad, an alert guard will be able to perceive if it is a lady or man.
Having read the boy was found in the girls room, firstly what needs to be questioned are the rules and regulations and values in the hostel, are the guest allowed to go to the rooms, or they are to have their meetings in the parlour.
The incident is evident a rule was broken, what is hostel procedure in such a case, is it clear to those living there, why involve the police, it is a moral issue that needs to be handled with the hostel and parents, it would have been more advisable just to warn them both and let go and the hostel take proper measures to spell out their rules clearly.?
Both of these youngsters have their whole life ahead, yes they committed a mistake in their blindness, they need a second chance, it is not like they caused harm to anyone, why make it a media event, what is the objective of the media in splashing such news with pictures.
Every citizen needs to become responsible and value the dignity of its people, especially the youngsters who are exposed to so many distractions and the parents too find it increasingly difficult to guide them with the increasing false values that are flashed all over the place.
The youngsters today begin to believe in instant pleasures without being responsible. An attitude of love and concern for those living in the hostel and a cross check on the security measures to ensure their safety would be a valuable measure. Let us stop pointing fingers so the relevant authoriites focus on a solution to rectify the situation to see if there is flaw in the security system, be it in this hostel or others in the area, no one is perfect we all know that, so let us have some empathy.

Eventhough this boy in love this is not a right way to enter. Parents sending childrento study for thier career not to do such things and wasteing time if they have true love wait until they finish studies this is really illmannered job both need to be punish they not even think of parents before doing such steps shameful for sirsi girl..............

The concerns of college authorities in Mangalore over girl-students wearing a burka have been justified. Incidents such as the one reported here drive home the point how miscreants and terrorists could take advantage of such costumes. I appeal to parents and students to comply with college authorities in the larger interest of security.

according to me....the boy must only be punished for entering a girls hostel....and not because he had a girlfriend and he wanted to be with her....

In reading some of the comments, they sound like, sky has fallen down and it is the first ever incident happened in the world. My gutts feelings say, in many of the girls and working women only hostels, similar incidents must be occuring day in and out, but do not come to light. It was not Naveed Shaik's day and hence was caught. Having said, what he did was absolutely wrong and it brings bad name not only to him but to his family as well. The girl involved and the middle girl (facilitator) should also be warned.

Unfortunately burqa is being misused by members of almost all communities to hide their identities in order to ute evil deeds or sins.... The institution of burqa is to safeguard the modesty of women and not to harrass or oppress any women. Burqa is one of the cosiest way to hide ones identity from general public....Since the person who wear burqa is a muslim, he should be punished under sharia criminal law as he knows the prime purpose of wearing burqa...

Even when I was small, i used to put tilak on my forehead and used to go to kukkikatte temple for free meal during sasti ceremony... and my hindu friends used to encourage me to do it...If some one misuses burqa, it doesnt mean that burqa should be banned...I agree that face veils can be banned from public places and not head scarfs or burqas.... This muslim boy has brought disgrace to his own community practices and to the concept of burqa so he must be punished. As far as having a relation with female inmate of the hostel, law of the land should take its own course.

A man wearing burqa in public, is a major crime in the gulf countries. Pls ask anyone in gulf, if man use burqa to hide is identity will be punished heavily. This is a major crime.

The crime of the boy is he has entered ladies hostel, which is very wrong, he could have done the same act in any of the hotel/lodge, to his bad luck he was caught and its wrong on police department that he was brought out of the hostel in a humiliating way, its better if he is warned and left off, (Chance to be given) for sure he will never walk besides the hostel for the rest of his life.

A very uncivilized way of arresting a young boy for a simple crime. Police appear to be deliberately and gleefully dragging the boy half dressed for the waiting cameras. I have seen pictures in Daiji with hard core criminals and gangsters being decently arrested with faces covered. Why these double standards??

According to a report published recently by Daji, it was mentioned that the police force is not looked after well. Only if they are paid well, given good facilities, money for children education etc, they will beheave in a decent way with the citizens.

Simple ban Burqa. Not fit for modern world where you & me living.

Kids of all communities have to be properly educated. When the parents send their small kids to some petty business at the cost of basic education, such kids grow with petty crimes and when they become youth they get into big crimes and bring bad name to the community. Education is the only way to bring down the crime rate in any community.

It is high time that Burqa should be modified. I heard from my Tunis friends being 100%muslim country hijab while travelling and in educational institutes and fully covering burqa is not allowed.

Its unfair for the boy to be dragged in such a manner, its a matter of mutual consensuses. only mistake was entering the hostel illegally. punishment is good, but public humiliation might lead the boy towards more negative life.

Why he had to take trouble of wearing a Burkha to have sex with his girlfriend in a hostel where boys are not allowed. Daya your pictures were fantastic but only the boy's pant was exposed a bit less. From the pictures it shows that the boy was all set but the timely intervention by the police foiled the show. Arrest the boy, his girl friend and also her friend who helped them in this affair. For sex people can go to any extent.

People would blame for his action on modernisation,western culture etc. The truth and the reality is he is just trying to fulfil his natural need which is purely caused by hormones and quite normal for his age. The instinct can be more for some and less for others depending on their natural hormones.If we prevent someone who wants defaecate ,he is going to defaecate in th trousers eventually,the same rule applies for the humans feeling towards their opposite sex, you can't prevent that for long.

Police did not take him away in a humane manner..This is why when Naxals blow up the CRPF men, they get little sympathy. Granted what the boy did is wrong - entering girls hostel. But he is 22. Mistakes happen. He should be told not to do it henceforth. But parading him like this stripping him of his decency is bad.

I have been writing against Burkha whenever Burkha subject comes in.People can misuse it very easily.Naveed is not the first male who was caught in Burkha dress,there are plenty of incidents.Last year in Mumbai,three lady constables arrested two jewellery thieves.COnstbales had shock of their life when they removed Burkha,needless to say that they were male theives.Anyway,this saturday Naveed can celebrate his FIRST NIGHT in Maavana Mane !

The police have arrested only the boy Naveed Sheikh. Why only the boy is arested? They should arrest his girlfriend in the hostel with whom he was involved along the outside girl who had arranged their regular meetings. They are also equally responsible for this.
