Bangalore, Jul 12 : A new page in the history of Karnataka politics was scripted when Jagadish Shivappa Shettar, who hails from Hubli took oath as the 21st chief minister of Karnataka. He is the third chief minister in the 4 -year-old BJP rule in the state. Shettar took oath in the name of God amidst huge applause and slogans from his supporters.
The event took place on Thursday July 12 at Raj Bhavan at 12 noon.











Followed by Shettar, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa took oath as deputy chief minister of state.
Ramayya Ashok, transport and home minister in the DVS cabinet was sworn in as the second deputy chief minister of the state.
According to reports, Halady Srinivas Shetty was denied entry into Raj Bhavan, as he had no identity card with him. It was speculated that he would get the ministerial berth in Shettar's cabinet. Kota Srinivas Poojary, BJP MLC from Kundapur was given berth in the cabinet.

It is also reported that due to pressure from the governor, Krishna Palemar, C C Patil and Laxmana Savadi's names were dropped at the last moment owing to their involvement in the porngate scandal.
About Kota Srinivas Poojary
Born on January 1, 1960 to the late Annappa Poojary and Lacchi Poojarti, Kota Srinivas Poojary became MLC in 2010. He is married to Shanta and the couple has three children Swati (15), Sashidhar (14) and Shruti (12). In 1993, he became gram panchayat member and vice-president, taluk panchayat member in 1995 and zilla panchayat member in 2006.

Throughout the oath taking ceremony, a bunch of Yeddyurappa supporters shouted slogans in favour of their leader - 'Yeddyurappa ki jai... Yeddyrappanavarige Jayavagali... Yeddyurappa is King'.
Yeddyurappa who was sitting next to Sadananda Gowda, raised from his seat once and folding his hands towards his supporters, asked them not to shout slogans.
But the supporters did not heed to his request and continued shouting slogans in favour of their favourite leader.
