Goa Assembly Monsoon Session Begins On July 12

Panaji, Jul 11 (IBNS): The Goa Legislative Assembly’s first full-fledged monsoon session begins on Thursday, July 12, after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar returning to treasury benches after seven long years.

Around 1400 questions, 10 resolutions and 8 bills will be tabled during the 20 working days of the assembly. The session will continue till August 8.

Former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and independent Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai have filed the highest number of questions. It is learnt that each of the two legislators have filed 200 questions to be answered by the ruling coalition.

Parrikar, who as leader of opposition was in the forefront of efforts to expose various scams involving the then Congress government, is expected to table a report card of his 100 days in power.

The BJP-led government has implemented two of several expensive election promises including reducing VAT on petrol in the state and implementing Ladli Laxmi scheme under which Rs 1 lakh will be disbursed to girls between 18 and 40 years for wedding expenses.
