Dubai, Jul 11: UAE Ganiga Samaj organized its 6th annual conference on Friday July 6 at 11 am at Dubai Grand Hotel Apartments, Bur Dubai.

Ramachandra Ganiga Kuthpady, vice-president of Ganiga Samaj Mumbai, who was on a private visit to Dubai along with his family members, was invited as the chief guest of the function. The programme was organized with the initiative of Satheesha Venkaramana (Chilly Willy). He was ably assisted by Vasudeva Ganiga, Prasanna Ganiga and Raghavendra Ganiga. The conference was presided over by K J Ganiga, former general manager of Syndicate Bank. Along with Ramachandra Kuthpady and K J Ganiga, Satheesha Venkaramana, Suresha Ganiga, Arun Ganiga and Dayananda Rao occupied the dais.

The conference was attended by more than 90 Ganiga Samaj members which was a great success as it was held on a short notice.

The conference was initiated by invoking God’s blessings by Mamatha Girish, which was followed by lighting of lamp by Ramachandra Ganiga Kuthpady along with other dignitaries on the dais. Raghavendra Ganiga welcomed the president, chief guest, other dignitaries and all other members. Vasudeva Ganiga introduced and congratulated the chief guest Ramachandra Ganiga Kuthpady who was recently awarded ‘ Best Social worker’ along with 10 others by M/S Jayakrishna Parisara Vedike, Mumbai. The award was handed over by Manohar Joshi, former chief minister of Maharashtra, on behalf of the Vedike.

The president of the function and other dignitaries were introduced by Mamatha Girish, Raghavendra Ganiga and Vasudeva Ganiga. K J Ganiga, in his presidential address, requested all the community members to unite so that the Samaj could do some constructive work for the benefit of all its members.

The senior members of Ganiga Samaj UAE, Satheesha Venkatramana, Suresh Ganiga, Dayananda Rao and Janardhana Shetty were given a floral welcome by the chief guest on behalf of the Samaj. This was followed by honoring recently wed couples with flowers, as was the tradition of the Samaj. Each couple was honored by Ramachandra Ganiga Kuthpady.

As per tradition, the president of the conference K J Ganiga honored the chief guest and his wife Suguna. This was followed by the speech of chief guest. In his address, he called upon all the members to strengthen the Samaj to do more social services for the benefit of the community at large. He also recalled how difficult it was to rejuvenate the Ganiga Samaj in Mumbai. In spite of all odds and non-cooperation by some community members, they were successful in strengthening the Samaj which has its own office, the market value of which is more than a crore now. He also thanked the organizers for inviting him as chief guest for the function enabling him to meet all the members in one platform, which would not have been possible otherwise.

Speaking on the occasion, the dynamic businessman Satheesha Venkaramana requested again for the active participation of all the members and to keep in touch with each other. He nominated Harish Shetty, Vasudeva Ganiga, Prasannakumar, Raghavendra Ganiga, Ganesh Ganiga, Sacin, Sureshkrishna, Ritesh, Mahesh and Bipin as a subcommittee on behalf of the Samaj to coordinate all future activities of the Samaj and keep active liaison with all members on a regular basis so that it can come to the help of any member who is in distress on any occasion. Further, it would also help members for the alliance of their children, as is being done by other communities.

He further told that a blood donation camp organized by the Samaj would be held on Monday August 6 at Lathif Hospital, Dubai. He called upon all the members to come in large numbers to donate blood so that it will be duly recognized by the local government authorities which will facilitate the Samaj in getting a certificate from them.

Dayanananda Rao, speaking on the occasion, said that they should help the cause of education of their community children back in India, which would go a long way in improving the economic conditions of poor community members.

The speech was followed by cultural programmes. Isha Kuthpady, daughter of Rajesh Kuthpady, Mumbai, recited the shlokas by heart which was appreciated by all. This was followed by brilliant dance performances by talented Niriksha, Manya Sathesha and Tanya Satheesha..

The vote of thanks was rendered by Satheesha Venkatramana.
