Dubai, Jul 10: The UAE Amchigele Samaj organized a spiritual evening for all the samaj bandhavas on July 6. The event was filled with a lot of enthusiasm, as the audience were eagerly looking forward to a discourse in Konkani on the "Essence of the Bhagavad Gita".

All the members gathered at the party hall , Mezzanine Floor, Al Maskan Building, Karama to listen to the main speaker of the day, Prema Bhakti Das (Padmakar P Padiyar ), President of ISKCON Mangalore branch, since the year 2000.

The discourse started at 5.00 pm and went on till 7.30 pm. The Samaj Vice President, Shailesh Shenoy welcomed everyone and started the evening with an introduction of the speaker,  Prema Bhakti Das who is a disciple of  Bhakti Raghava Swami. Born & brought-up in Mangalore ,South Canara , he is an arts graduate from Mangalore University and has been serving in ISKCON since the last 22 years.
The audiences were enthralled by the speaker in a Bhajan and Pravachan event.

The discourse on ‘essence of bhagavad gita’ started with singing bhajans, where in the audience also participated with lot of intensity and devotion. The main highlight of the evening was the message of the Gita. The speaker brought forth how to implement the simple yet effective principles of the Gita in an individual’s daily life. The need for everyone to know the Divine song was stressed upon. The audience which also included little children was captivated by the stories used by the speaker as an example of how the Lord cares for all, and truly loves us.

The evening enthralled everyone with questions that stirred the soul. It was a welcome and refreshing change from the usual material world that each one is caught up in. The examples and the explanation of the Shlokas by Prema Bhakti Das, showed how the 5000 year old Gita principles were still relevant in today's modern world.

All one needs to do is just go out and open heartedly embrace the teachings. At the end of the lecture, the entire hall resonated with Bhajans from the devotees. The speaker was felicitated by Vivek Kamath, B P Nayak, Kasturi Mallya and the President of the UAE Amchigele Samaj, Rajiv Kamat.

The event came to an end with distribution of Prasad to all the audience present. The evening has definitely helped the participants of the discourse go one step ahead in the spiritual journey that we are all trotting on.

"When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to Bhagavad Gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meanings from it every day.“ - By Mahatma Gandhi
