Goa Police Bust Gang of Thieves

Panaji, Jul 10 (IBNS): Goa police busted a gang of Delhi-based housebreaking thieves by arresting five of its members, here Monday evening.

Ramesh Kumar (42), Ramesh Ram (31), Tarun Singh (26), Sanjukumar Sheetal (25) and Geeta Sharma (21), all hailing from Delhi were arrested after a hot chase by one and half dozen policemen through the busy roads in the capital.

Some eight policemen including the team head police inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai have been injured.

In a press briefing, Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar said the accused were chased for about 10 kms within the city and outskirts before they were caught in the jungles.

“The accused were in a Swift car. Our team worked on certain leads and spotted it at Taleigao (3 kms from Panaji). They were chased and at one point they abandoned the car near Raj Bhavan and ran into the jungle,” he said.

A massive combing operation was launched wherein the villagers helped the police nab the accused. The policemen suffered injuries when the gang members attacked them with the housebreaking tools they had in their possession.

They are being treated in the government run Goa Medical College and Hospital while the accused were lodged in the lock-up after being medically examined. The accused will be produced before the Court for police remand Tuesday.

Excellent, well done by Goa police by making an arrest of all the 5 thieves who hails from Delhi.
DAMAN from Mumbai its about 160 km and familiar tourist place, where many people from UP,MP AND W.B.,And the crime rates are increasing for house/flats breaking in day light robberies.
Recently, two flats in the same building in the day light were broken and robbed only Gold and cash in Moti Daman. The FIR has been registered with the Daman police station, but non yet has been arrested.Since Goa,Daman and Diu are famous for its sea site attaction and therefore it is possible the group of 5 thieves who were arrested for robberies in Goa,might have also visited Daman and done the same acts with the help of some local gang who tries to be clean before the local community.
It is therefore, in the interest of justice, the Goa police investigate through and get some clue about their visit to DAMAN too as they are under remand.
Thanking you.
