BJP Grapples with Govt Formation, Lobbying for Ministry Berths

Bangalore, Jul 9 (PTI) : With the dust settling over the leadership issue in Karnataka, the focus is now on government formation under Chief Minister-designate Jagadish Shettar as lobbying for Cabinet berths and key ministries gathered momentum today.

In-charge of BJP Affairs in Karnataka, Dharmendra Pradhan held consultations with outgoing Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and state unit President K S Eshwarappa even as several Ministers and MLAs also met him at the BJP office here.

Senior central party leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh are slated to arrive here this evening to oversee the legislature party meeting, expected to be held tomorrow or on Wednesday and discuss ministry-formation issues.

Gowda had retained all Ministers of the Yeddyurappa cabinet when he assumed charge in August last year.

Ministerial aspirants had been making a vigorous push in recent weeks for berths, and Gowda is holding some 20 portfolios as he gets ready to demit office. It will be interesting to see if there is a reshuffle and induction of new faces under Shettar.

BJP, sources said, is also weighing the option of having a Deputy Chief Minister, a post for which there is a triangular fight between Eshwarappa, Transport and Home Minister R Ashoka and Kannada and Culture Minister Govind M Karjol.

Karjol, a Dalit leader, is being propped up by the Gowda and anti-Yeddyurappa camps. There is a possibility that BJP might not create a Deputy Chief Minister post after all amid apprehension that it's a recipe for more trouble.

Supporters of Gowda are pushing the party's central leadership to make him State unit President, a move obviously not to the liking of the Yeddyurappa camp.

Congress high command is better than BJP high command. Coastal Karnataka public should support DVS by voting against BJP in next election. Well said Dinesh. We are with you in fight for justice. Our coastal MLA's are busy in getting ministerial births instead of supporting DVS. This is BJP dirty culture.

I am utterly dissapointed that BJP party in Karnataka belongs only to Lingayits & NOT any Hindus. DVS gave clean rule in Karnataka past 11 months but he was kicked out of CM post. That means no one from South Kanara fit to be CM??? I thought DVS could have done some developments to twin district... That is NOT the case now....I will think twice before voting...

Bacche Gowda,Labour Minister(EX?)in fact 'Aya raam Gaya raam'but CT RAVI,not like that making noises frequently for a ministerial berth!I think if Shettar under the vicious circle of Yeddi, then CTR will not able to make it.Interestingly,ISH uncle himself lobbying for 'DCM Toyota'That means everybody in BJP are running after MINISTERIAL CREAMY FORTFOLIOS(as somebody(Mr AMIN BOJA) put it exactly.

Every BJP MLAs know 'now or never' and this is the last chance to wear minister coat!!In fact Shettar also knows this and that's why being RSS core member, resigned to DVS ministry to black mail DVS which is a stunning move and every one taken by surprise. !In front of POWER there is no RSS or ISS or discipline!!!THIS IS THE LAST BUS FOR BJP SO THAT EVEN HANGING AROUND FOOT BOARD,THEY WILL TRAVEL!!!

Fully agree with you Dinesh Poojary. We should protest for the ouster of DVS for no reason. But His own partymen are busy protesting over J&K. Also it is a great pity that none of the BJP MLA/MLC's from our twin districts are on his side. We need to show more unity keeping aside our political affiliations when our districts are neglected and sidelined.

FYI. If you and I become CM tomorrow, all 120 MLAs including Bacchegowda and CT Ravi follow us because we have power. Everyone wants to be very close to the person who has power. CT Ravi wants to become minister and he is trying very hard for that.

DVS never sidelined Yeddy. Yeddy wanted to DVS to listen to him and wanted to rule our state indirectly. But DVS did not listen to Yeddy and took decisions independently which a CM is supposed to take. Also BJP Hi-command told DVS to rule independently.

DVS told he became CM due to Vokkaligara ashirvada. Nothing wrong in this. He told this to please thousands of audience gathered in the event.

STATE GOVT IS ALREADY DESERVED FOR BJP FOR ALWAYS. NO ONE CHANGE THIS IN FUTURE.

BJP IS THE ONLY PARTY WHO MAKE INDIA STABLE AND SAFE FOR ALWAYS.

I AM SURE SHETTARJI WILL FOLLOW SAME TRACK OF YEDDIJI AND DVSJI.

I AM SURE SHETTARJI WILL ALSO MAKE GOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS TO OUR STATE. JAI HO BJP.

Mr Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bangalore, you might be knowing in the undivided district of south kanara we the voters vote for the party and not the candidate or his caste to which he belongs. First of all DVS became CM not because he is Vokkaliga, nor from Vokkaligas support as he has claimed in Vokkaliga Convention. It is grave blunder he (DVS) has committed. So there is no point in protesting against High command.

To know the mistakes committed by DVS after he became CM, you go through Kannadaaprabha. Then you will come to know, how DVS has tried to sideline BSY, who had made him(DVS) CM. And to win 2013 general election we require BSY, more than DVS who has no followers in the party . In the above picture you can see that how Bachhe Gowda and CT Ravi chaged their colours

Do we hear right & see right things with BJP drama in our state. There has not been a single day fruitful Gevernance with this party in power for quite long time now.

Our own DK person DVS was a better CM than anybody I can remember in recent years, but b'coz he is better, he stands no place in this corrupt party. DVS, you should have stood firm without resigning. they could opt for fresh polls.

Mr. Yeddi, if I join BJP tomorrow and wish to become Karnataka State CM, will I stand a chance too, coz I too belong to a minority...!! Also that I could safe guard minority population from your corrupt government.!!
Somebody please enlighten how does one qualify to be the CM? I might stand a chance..!!!

Vokkaligas across the state (bangalore, mysore, Kolar, Tumkur etc) are protesting against the hicommand's decision to bring down DVS. The supporters are blocking Blr-Kolar highway, blr-mysore, blr-tumkur highway and bangalore city roads. They are planning to boycott Jaitley's visit today at airport

It is sad to see DVS's hometown people of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada being silent. We need to fight for our man. It is our foolishness to be silent on any injustice caused to us.

Ever since the BJP came to power in Karnataka all that we have been reading about in the Media about this "Party with a Diffrence" is Scams / Scandals / Powermongering / Attacks on churches / persecution of the Minorities / Ban on Beef / Musical chairs / Resort Politics & buying MLA's and the list goes on and on ....Can any one recollect in the recent past, reading about the development of the state or the welfare of its people ?? I for one felt that the 11 months under DVS was a sort of respite, in that, he "made the difference" by being non corrupt and not letting anyone indulge in corruption ... but the party with a diffrence changed him with a different CM because he was of a different sect... nevertheless, don't be surprised if public memory is short lived and we see the BJP mage a go of it in the next elections with BSY at the helm !!!! God save Karnataka.

Very much amazed to see "famous smile" still on at our EX C.M's face. Shettar is very much aware about his positon as C.M for a very few months. Yeddy can make anybody Karnataka C.M. Never know, if yeddy wish we will see "SWAMI NITYANANDA" as our C.M one day.
