Bangalore: Yeddy Faction Sets July 5 Deadline for Replacing DVS

Bangalore: Yeddy Faction Sets July 5 Deadline for Replacing DVS

Bangalore, Jul 1 (PTI): The crisis in the ruling BJP in Karnataka deepened today with the rebel faction led by B S Yeddyurappa setting a July five deadline for removing Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and replacing him with their nominee Jagadish Shettar.

The Chief Minister will head for Delhi tomorrow for a meeting with the BJP president Nitin Gadkari and other top leaders.

Stepping up the heat two days after two days after nine ministers, loyal to former chief minister Yeddyurappa, quit the Karnataka cabinet, his camp released a list of 51 MLAs who attended today's meeting held at the residence of Shettar and rallied behind him in a show of strength.

Eight Lok Sabha members from the state and at least 15 MLCs also attended the meeting, Raju Gowda, who was among the ministers who resigned, told reporters.

"We have unanimously decided to appeal to the high- command to make Shettar the Chief Minister," he said.

"We are confident that a good decision will come by July five. If it does not come (by then), we will meet and take an important decision on July five", he added.

Those attending the meeting authorised Yeddyurappa and Shettar to take a decision on political developments, saying they will abide by it.

They appealed to the party high-command to call the Legislature Party meeting. Raju Gowda said if it was not done, legislators loyal to Yeddyurappa themselves would convene one.

BJP has sent Dharmendra Pradhan as its emissary here in a bid to mollify the rebels.
For the BJP central leadership, the power struggle in Karnataka has become a big embarrassment. Every time Yeddyurappa has upped the ante, efforts have been made to pacify him but this period is shortlived.

In the 225-member Karnataka Assembly, BJP has a total strength of 120 and Yeddyurappa has been claiming the backing of around 70 MLAs.

Notwithstanding the muscle-flexing by the rebels, BJP sources in Delhi said a change of guard in Karnataka in the near future is unlikely. The party may look into their demand only after the Presidential poll on July 19, they said.

For the record, senior leader Rajnath Singh said, "there is no crisis in Karnataka. All the problems will be resolved."

His party colleague, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also said, "All issues will be resolved."
Pradhan, who is in-charge of party affairs in Karntaka, appealed to the nine Ministers to withdraw their resignation.

"Their withdrawal will facilitate further talks", said Pradhan, who also met RSS leaders for their view on the crisis.

He said he would apprise senior party leaders about the Karnataka developments and hoped that "everything would be sorted out" and the crisis resolved. "Appropriate action will be taken at appropriate time".

"There is no question of taking back the resignations. When a new leader will be appointed, automatically he will form the new Cabinet," insisted Yeddyurappa loyalist and MLA B P Harish, claiming the legislators supporting Yeddyurappa will go beyond 80.

Sanjay Patil, also in the rebel camp, said if Yeddyurappa asks the MLAs to resign, "we will do so. Yeddyurappa is BJP in Karnataka and we aill do anything for him."

Lok Sabha member Suresh C Angadi blamed the party's central leadership for the crisis, saying he had brought it to the notice of top leaders Gadkari, L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, besides senior leader from the state H N Ananth Kumar but "nobody cares".

"If the party high-command does not take a decision by July five, I want to warn that the party's high command will be responsible for the consequences", Angadi said.

Lok Sabha members G S Basavaraj, G M Siddeshwar and B Y Raghavendra (Yeddyurappa's son) and Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore were among those present at the meeting.

Since DVS has come to power, none of the BJP members can make money at will with DVS seemingly much less corrupt than BSY. BSY's pockets aren't full yet and kannadigas who follow BSY are eating dung. Hell with you BSY, you have shown what your intentions are. Go to hell. DVS, keep up the good work.

Gadkari is a toothless tiger. He has enough problems at hand not only in Karnataka but also in Gujarat, courtesy Keshubai and Sanjay Joshi. His party's relations with its allies is also not smooth, especially JD(U). All in all he is in charge of a divided & broken house. Surprisingly the opposition parties Congress & JD(S)in Karnataka, unlike earlier are staying away from fueling the crisis and are waiting for the Government to fall on its own (weight). They just want the people to get fed up with this Govt. and vote for them in the next elections. Rajneethi at its best and Governance at its worst.

Karnataka had some really great Chief Ministers since 1947, like Veerendra Patil, Ramakrishna Hegde, Kengal Hanumanthia and DVS, who has achieved great respect from the citizens of the state just within a year's time. In fact among all the current Chief Ministers of India, I will rate DVS and Nitish Kumarji as certainly the best Chief Ministers followed by Oomen Chandi, Umer Abdulla of Kashmir, and others.

It will be a wise move if in the interest of the state, Congress and other parties will support him to get over the current turmoil safely through.
My best wishes to DVG....!!!

And Yeddy, sorry, the worst Chief Minister ever not only of Karnataka but in whole of India ...better to send him as India's Ambassador to Pakistan or Bangladesh or Egypt., or even Afghanistan....!!!

People,

"Laton Ke Bhooth Baton se nahin Mante"....

Only permanent solution for this cris is to accept the resignations of these 9 ministers and dissolve the assembly and call for fresh election if needed.

If Gadkari will put a bandaid again and ask these 9 folks to withdraw resignations this problem will crop up again sooner than later.

Gadkari is unfit to be president of BJP,,, why RSS wants him only they know.

Need of the hour for BJP is kicking out Yeddi & his Gang. IF situations and numbers permit DVS take help of JDS and continue the term with some MOU. All is fair in politics as Yeddi & congress is in mercy of each other as the former one needs to save him self from CBI & the later to cash in Lingayat votebank, JDS-BJP merger SODA is not a bad idea. Or DVS should dissolve the assemble and go for fresh Mandate atleast BJP might get 1 more seat than congress. But the real gain in next state assemble will be for JDS which I belive may be better for Karnataka as the state has got its own local issues especially if the party can safegaurd the intrests of states farmers & produce irrespective of what party rules the center. Kumarswamy and some of his team members like YSV Datta & MC Naanaiiah looks more promising than any other leaders or looters should I say.
BJP high command if bows down to the demands of Yeddi & his team this time then it will be the last nail to Karnataka BJP Coffin hit by none other than thei own high command

No unity among these party leaders. Member from the same party is trying put down his own fellow mate whom he had appointed and replace with another person who can do his chanchagiri (including Congress). When there is no unity among these politicians, How can we expect unity among the public. Because of this political parties, we public are suffering. They are only worried about their seat and position and not the welfare and betterment of the public.
I hope now our BJP supporters Rakesh, Nagesh, Dinesh etc dont start on with our same dialogues "THIS IS NOTHING FOR BJP. THEY WILL SOLVE IT INTERNALLY, NOT LIKE ITALIAN LADY ETC ETC".

I AM SURE NO CHANGES WILL BE HAPPEN. DVS WILL LEAD AS USUAL. THIS IS ADVANCE INFORMATION FOR ALL CONGI'S.

AS I SAID EARLIER YEDDIJI IS A STRONG CONTENDER FOR CM POST.

I AM SURE THIS TIME BJP WILL NOT GO FOR REPLACING MATTER OR REPLACEMENT. THEY WILL PROCEED WITH DVS.

NEXT TIME I AM SURE THEY WILL PREFER YEDDIJI FOR CM POST.

KARNATAKA NEED STRONG CANDIDATE LIKE YEDDIJI.

THAT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS GOING TO LEAD AS A CM. IN BJP ALL CANDIDATES ARE GOOD AND VERY STRONG.

ANYONE CAN LEAD IF THEY GIVE OPPORTUNITY. FINAL DECISION WILL BE TAKEN BY ADVANIJI OR GADKARIJI.

THEY KNOWS WHICH IS BETTER OR WHICH IS BAD. THEIR DECESSION IS FINAL. ALL WILL FOLLOW AS PER THEIR INSTRUCTION. JAI HO BJP.
