Bangalore, Jun 14: Karnataka's Excise Minister M P Renukacharya said cross-voting by 12 MLAs of the ruling BJP in the elections to the 11 Legislative Council seats from the State Legislative Assembly has embarrassed the party and demanded stern action against such legislators.
''They are like black sheep. Those flouting party discipline must be dealt with firmly,Ē he said demanding that the dozen MLAs, who have indulged in cross-voting should not be given tickets for contesting in next year's assembly elections.
The minister, a strong loyalist and the most vociferous supporter of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, urged the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and State BJP President K S Eshwarappa to ensure that the dozen MLAs must be blacklisted.
The 12 legislators had insulted the party and the organisation by indulging in cross-voting , he said pointing out that it was a matter of shame and great insult to the party that the six official candidates had to depend on second preference votes for victory despite the ruling party's comfortable strength in the lower house.
For the sake of money, the legislators indulged in cross-voting and he would give a list of MLAs indulged in cross voting to Eshwarappa and the Chief Minister, Renukacharya said.
