Mangalore, Jun 14: Kadri police on Thursday June 14 arrest four persons in connection with a major theft at the house of Jashwaruddin, a resident of Balmatta Mission Compound.

The thieves had broken into Jashwaruddin's house on the night of May 12, and despite the family members' presence in the house, they managed to decamp with cash, gold and valuables worth over Rs 6 lac.

The arrested are Arun Shanmugam Shetty (22) of Thane, Maharashtra, Venkatesh (28) and Murugesh (20) of Tamil Nadu and Kiran (20) of Davangere.

Following the theft, Jashwaruddin had lodged a complaint with the Kadri police.

On Thursday, acting on prior information, the police traced the culprits to Kadri ground and arrested them.

A laptop, digital camera, handycam, nine gold rings, three gold bangles, a gold necklace, mobile phone, gold chain, gold earrings, three watches and a bike. However, it is not certain whether the bike too was stolen or belonged to the accused, as no proper documents were found.

City crime branch inspector H Venkatesh Prasanna, SI Vishwanath Kunjattoor, ASI Sukumaran, and police staff Seenappa Poojary, Prakash, Veerabhadra and Yashwant were part of the operation.

They will let off after sometime. Even case is registered, they will manage to come out in in bail and continue with the same practice. Occassionaly, police too have share in this type of theft. I, myself heard, police saying "Kadhnda Jaasti kandodo, onthe kandedh dada prayojana. Enklena paal ol undh"

There is a problem with our judiciary system.

Police work has been well appreciated, the question here is will they get punished or released without any punishment I am sure they will be out without any then police hard work will go in vain. They should get at-least 6 years imprisonment for such crimes then only the thieves will learn a lesson.

My hats off to the Kadri Police for nabbing the thieves within no time. Put them in jail and see that they get the maximum punishment. It is strange that in spite of the presence of the family members the committed the robbery. Also after committing the crime they were hanging around the city on a bike. Jashwarrudin is lucky the thieves were nabbed at the right time and the stolen goods were recovered.
