Chikmagalur: Five of Family Die in Bus-Qualis Collision

Chikmagalur, May 26: In a tragic accident five persons belonging to one family died after a Qualis in which they were travelling collided with a KSRTC bus near Kadur here on Saturday May 26.

Sharanappa (25), Vinayak (32), Bhagyavathi (65), Padmavathi (65) and Vani (30), natives of Tumkur are the deceased. Rohini who was in the Qualis, and four others were critically injured. They have been admitted in hospitals in Shimoga and Chikmagalur.
 
A group of 10 were on a pilgrimage to places like Gokarna, Sirsi and others. After concluding the tour, they were returning in the ill-fated Qualis to Tumkur via Shimoga. The accident took place at around 3.30 am.

The KSRTC bus plying from Bangalore to Shimoga collided head-on with the Qualis, it is said.
 
It is also said that the Qualis driver was drowsy due to driving all night, which led to the tragic deaths of five persons and put the lives of others in danger.

A case has been registered in Kadur police station.
