Mangalore, May 17: In an interesting case, where Srinivas Padakannay was alleged to be drowned here in the Palguni river at Kulur last week, took a new turn after he was found alive in Kundapur, provoking more speculations.

The investigation was intensified as the body was not found in the river even after repeated search that was carried along with the coastal guard personnel and local swimmers. As per the complaint registered in the Panambur police station, Srinivas Padakannay, along with his wife Swathi were riding from Mangalore. Reportedly, while motorbike rider wanted to give space for the lorry to overtake, near Kisco Road, Kulur, the rider is said to have lost control and fallen into the river at around 6 am.

Twist in the tale From the beginning, doubts arose as Swathi, pillion rider, instead of rescuing her husband set towards her house located at Krishnapur with the same bike to inform family members after which she registered complaint at Panambur police station.

Interestingly, Swathi had sustained no injuries in the incident. In addition, the motor bike was also not damaged. Moreover she told police that the accident took place in 10 steps away from river.

Srinivas who was supposedly thrown into the river last Friday was found in Kundapur after five days. Speculations arose as to how he was found in Kundapur after he went missing in Mangalore. He was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday evening, during the inquiry Srinivas told police, that he was abducted by the miscreants. Later, he revealed the truth that it was preplanned as they failed to pay the debt.

He along with his family members planned a foul play to escape from the debt of several lakhs to a local business man.
