Udupi: ‘Katariveera’ to Be Screened on May 17 After Cuts

Udupi, May 14: Kannada movie ‘Katariveera’ will be screened on Thursday May 17 as movie producer Maniratnam and actor Upendra agreed to cut a few shots that projected Hindu Gods in poor light.

Both Maniratnam and Upendra begged forgiveness from Swami Laxmivarateerta of Shiroor Mutt in front ‘Kanakana Kindi’ here on Monday May 14, for a disgraceful act that shot was included in Katariveera movie. They agreed to cut a few shots that disgraced the religious sentiments of people. This will clear the hurdle in screening the movie on Thursday.

“Swami Laxmivarateerta advised us on the religious impeachment that has been reversed.  The movie has been produced with many hardships and expects everyone to contribute for its success,” said actor Upendra.

“The mistakes that occurred knowingly or unknowingly the movie have to be pardoned by Kannadigas,” he pleaded.

“I am in contact with Swami Laxmivarateerta since the past 15 years.  It costs a chunk of money to produce a 3D movie.  First, all the shots have to be recorded in two cameras and have to be screened in theaters by converting it into 3D. “‘Katariveera’ is a rare Kannada movie that seeks support from viewers,” urged Upendra.

“Swami Laxmivarateerta had given me a mirror as a gift, when Sandalwood movie ‘Om’ was released, which was a box office success.  I hope that with the blessings of Swami Laxmivarateerta, ‘Katariveera’ will also be a box office hit,” he added.
