Mangalore, May 6: JD(S) has fielded C M Panchaksharaiah as its party candidate for the Karnataka state legislative council elections from the South West Teachers’ Constituency scheduled to be held in the month of June.

Addressing a press conference, Panchaksharaiah said that he believes that teachers will vote for him as many issues were not solved by the present BJP MLC. He added that the Congress has not been considering this election a serious one. He said that he has 30 years of experience in the administration field and good relations with teachers.

Panchaksharaiah pointed out that the issue of mandatory requirement of residential certificate for enrolment was questioned by him with the election commission and as a result such ‘compulsion’ was discarded and he said that already 13,000 teachers have enrolled.

State secretary M G Hegde said that present MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik has devoted himself to NRIs and teachers have been neglected by him. He said that Karnik did not make any particular struggle in favor of teachers. He also said that more number of enrolments this time by the party is a determining factor.

D K district minority unit president D M Aslam, Shashiraj Shetty, Aziz Malar, Dhanraj, Krishna Mankini, and Hakim were present at the press meet.
