Ankola: Pune Hotelier Ravi Shetty Dies in Accident

Ankola, May 4: Ravi Shetty (63), a Pune hotelier who hailed from Karkala, died in a road accident at Ankola in Uttara Kannada district here on Thursday May 3.

The accident took place between a Honda City moving from Mangalore to Pune and a tanker. Several were grievously injured. Ravi Shetty was in the car along with his family.

Shetty was the brother of Kanakadasa Shetty, former president of Restaurant and Hotel Association, Pune. He hailed from Ninjoor in Karkala.

Kanakadasa Shetty (58), Ravi Shetty's wife Jayanti (55), Sulata Satish Shetty (45), and car driver Rahmatulla (40) from Byloor were seriously injured.

Pune Mahaganapati Yakshagana Mandali presdient Praveen Shetty Puttur was also travelling on the same route, and his car was just behind Ravi Shetty's. He was an eyewitness to the accident, and also helped in rushing the injured to a hospital in Ankola.

By evening, the injured were said to be recovering.

I know Late Ravi Shetty and Kanaka Shetty - Kanaka shetty was with me in 1977 atBrindavan Lodge, NavipetPune and at Rasik Lodge - I arranged darshan of Lord Venkateshwara from b'lore for him on 2 occasions. convey my condolence to their family. Mobile number not responding.
