Saudi Arabia : ‘GVOM 3’ Prelims Rounds in Riyadh

Riyadh, May 3: After the historical success of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2’ semifinals, ‘Aangann Konknechem Riyadh’ will now be conducting ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) 3’ semi-finals yet again.

The preliminary rounds of GVOM 3 Konkani singing contest will be held for the Konkani-speaking community residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Friday June 8, 2012, in Riyadh as part of ‘Konkani Day’. At the event, 12 best singers (6 male and 6 female) will be selected for the semi-finals. The semi-final will be on September 27, 2012, in Riyadh to select one best male and female voice of Saudi Arabia for the finals. The grand finale will be held in Doha, Qatar, on October 19, 2012.

The competition is open to singers of Mangalore origin residing in Saudi Arabia and born on or before October 15, 1994. Visitor visa holders are not eligible for the competition.

The competition is dedicated to Konkani solo songs only from released Mangalorean albums (DVD/CD/cassette). Religious hymns are not allowed. Any song which devalues morality or any kind of attack on religion, person, or country is not permitted.

The purpose of this competition is to promote singing and to discover new talent within the community.
 
Individuals who are interested in taking part in this competition must register their names on or before Sunday May 6. For more details please contact co-ordinators, AKR members, or email aangannkonknechem@gmail.com 

Dance contest for children will also be held in two categories—ages 5 to 10, and above 10. The contest is open to all Konkani speaking people in the kingdom. Those interested in participating must register their names before Tuesday May 8.

Aangann Konknechem Riyadh has been promoting Konkani language and culture through exclusive programmes since its inception in 2007. The organization has been helping various young talents besides promoting Konkani culture and helping the needy.
