Mangalore: Refusal to Lend Costs Man His Life

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 27: Selvaraj (40), who hails from Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu, working as a cooly at the fishing port at Bunder area in the city, was Allegedly killed by Selvaras (49), his co-worker from his native place on Saturday February 25 midnight.

It is gathered that both Selvaraj and Selvaras lived together in a rented accommodation in Totabengre village, about half a km away from the ferry launch jetty of Bengre.  Selvaras, while walking to their place of residence, had sought to borrow money from his friend, Selvaraj. As Selvaraj refused to lend money, there was a scuffle between the two. Selvaras, in a fit of rage, hit Selvaraj with a wooden club.

After failing to find Selvaraj on Sunday morning, Nagaraj, also from Tamil Nadu, who had seen the two fighting the previous night, started searching for him. He found that Selvaraj’s body was lying at the spot where the two had fought.

Reportedly, Selvaaj, Selvaras, and Nagaraj are relatives. The policemen  have recovered the wooden club used for the assault. The policemen said that Selvaras did not intend to kill his friend, but had hit him out of anger, without realizing that it could turn out to be fatal.

Selvaras is absconding. The policemen of Panambur station have registered a case. They have now launched a hunt for the murderer.
