Thank You Readers: Light in Sight for Visually Impaired Dinesh Poojary

Walter Nandalike
Editor-in-chief

Udupi, Nov 15: Dinesh Poojary of Mapady, who had turned blind five years ago and all lost hopes of leading a normal life, has suddenly found a ray of hope, a flicker of light. On October 13, 2011 Daijiworld carried his story as an appeal to readers. Suvarna Brahmavar, Daijiworld correspondent in Brahmavar initiated the appeal after personally verifying the dire needs of Dinesh and his family.

As always, for a real cause Daijiworld readers contributed in various ways. A sum of Rs 2 lac has been received at the bank account. Moreover, a few contributors visited Dinesh Poojary's house and donated household items, and at least three Samaritans have pledged their support to the education of his three children. There are a few others too who have offered to support him in the coming days.

All donors including those who wished to support his children's education, have requested their contributions to remain anonymous, without seeking any publicity. Hence their names are withheld.

Dinesh Poojary has expressed his gratitude for helping him tide over the hard times.

"I was pleasantly surprised when so many people called from India and abroad to console me and support my cause. Never thought such kind of help would pour in all of a sudden" Dinesh told Daijiworld.

"I have no worries of my blindness, I feel like I am seeing the world in humanity. I am relieved from worries of my children's future, specially education, and I think I can live peacefully hereafter," says Dinesh.

We at Daijiworld salute all those who reached out to Dinesh Poojary in every possible way.

Looking at the bank statement, one thing that clearly reflected, and which encourages us to reach out to the needy even more, is that the contributors are from every walk of life, beyond barriers of religion, language or region.

May God bless us all.

DAIJIWORLD'S SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY is hailed..

I am overwhelmed by the support and encouragement received by the Daijiworld readers for the noble cause of Dinesh Poojary and his family’s sufferings. When I read the first report on Dinesh Poojary’s state through Daijiworld, I felt very sorry for his state. Suddenly when I saw the pictures of him standing with his 3 little daughters, my heart cried for them and I immediately did the best that I could. Going forward we as good Samaritans, we should make sure these little angels get a proper education, with good nutrition in the form of good food for their growth.

I at this stage am not sure how and who can do this. I have already pledged my financial support for the educational expense towards one child and this need to be done in a systematic way so that someone back home can make sure that this happens by timely interaction with these children and making sure of their development.

May I urge Daijiworld to nominate one such charitable institution who can help and make sure these kids get to see a better tomorrow? Like me, many other readers who wish to contribute for this cause can send in their contributions, so that we help in educating these little ones and help to secure their future.

Hats off to Daijiworld. I am sure the gratitude which Mr. Dinesh has expressed might have benifited all the donors and well wishers. I would like to proudly say that I am one of the beniciary of his gratitude. My wife narrowly escaped a severe lightning attack on Oct 31. Everyone who saw the damage of the lightning had to say one thing is that it is the result of some good wishes or gratitude deeply from the bottom of their heart. Once again thanks to Daijiworld.
