Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Aug 30: A gang led by a person accused of illegal cattle trafficking, assaulted a few policemen who tried to apprehend the accused, on Sunday August 29. Kuble station police sub-inspector (SI), Rajiv Kumar, assistant SI, Thomas, constables, N V Rajesh and Suresh, were injured.

The injured were treated at the local hospital. Allegedly, a gang led by Abubakker Siddique, a native of Uppala Bekoor and presently residing at Chowki Azad Nagar here, attacked the policemen. Siddique is the main accused in a case in which two young cattle were being transported in an inhuman way in a car two days ago. The cattle and the car were confiscated by the policemen from near Heroor here, on that occasion.

When the policemen approached Abubakker’s home to arrest him, his accomplices assaulted the policemen with lethal weapons including iron bars, it is said. Abubakker, encashing this opportunity, escaped. The policemen of the city station have registered complaints against eight persons including Khadeeja, mother of Siddique, and his wife, Safiya, for assaulting the policemen and helping the accused to escape.
