Udupi, Jan 30: A day’s seminar was held for talented female students at Dr V S Acharya auditorium, Udupi district panchayat on Saturday January 30 as part of National Girl Child Day.

Dr Naveen Bhat, panchayat CEO of district panchayat got himself introduced to the children and said that desired goal can be reached if uninterrupted study programme is practiced. K R Vadekar assistant secretary, district panchayat explained the three stages of work activities in the district administration. Chief accounts officer explained the finance system. The project director explained about the housing system that comes under district panchayat.

The students were later escorted to the office of the deputy director. N H Nagoora, the deputy director gave all the details of administration starting from the minister of education till the school teachers. The children were briefed about education department schemes to encourage education.

R Sheshappa, deputy director, department of women and child welfare explained various schemes for the protection and development of women and children. He answered questions by children about child marriages and control of rape of women and children. The officials of the labour department, social welfare and tourism explained about their department programmes and facilities for children.

Udupi district panchayat CEO Dr Naveen Bhat later held an interaction with the students. He explained about hygiene, drainage system, rural roads and drinking water facilities. Finally the CEO gave up his position to Varsha, SSLC student of Brahmavar for half an hour for asking questions of social concern and asked her what development does she intend to do. She spoke about disposal of plastic, drainage in villages and solution to the problems of unemployment. Dr Naveen Bhat said that she should pass IAS during the next ten years and be in his position. He took part in the group photograph with children. The deputy director rendered a vote of thanks and concluded the programme.
