Udupi: Regional conference of district Lions Club hosts 'Sangathya'

Udupi, Jan 24: Regional conference of Lions Club District 317-C, Region-V ‘Sangathya’ was held on Saturday, January 23 at the late Lion S T Karkera Vedike, Amrith Garden, Udupi. The conference was hosted by the International Association of Lions Clubs, Udupi.
 
The conference was inaugurated by first lady of the regional club Ln Hemalatha Sunil Kumar Shetty and was presided over by Lion Sunil Kumar Shetty, the regional chairperson.
 





























































 
Ln Sunil Kumar Shetty addressing the gathering said, "Love and affection of club members have made my work easy. When I took over the position, my first aim was club expansion, increasing membership and LCF promotion. I have an aim to have 112 more members in the three new clubs which will be installed in the coming days. Whenever we give something to society, it comes back to us. Therefore, let us be generous in our donations. 'Sangathya' is my dream project, which is aimed at instilling harmony among members, in the community and with everybody."
 
The inaugurator, first lady of the club, Lion Hemalatha thanked everyone, who extended support and encouragement towards the program.
 
Lion Dr M S Moodithaya, pro-vice-chancellor, NITTE University was the chief guest of the conference.
 
In his address, Dr Moodithaya said, "Sangathya is really a culture of India, the heart of India. The concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' has become a reality today. All should proudly say 'we are Indians'. Indians are now receiving worldwide recognition. This is the time where the struggle for global dominance will take shape."
 
Three agencies are contributing to changes in the country, the government, private sector and voluntary organizations. The government alone cannot do all the things. When the government falls asleep, voluntary organizations wake them up. These organisations are substantial towards the growth of the country. By 2025, one of every 5 of the world's working population will be an Indian, one-fourth of every graduate will be an Indian. India will be the third-largest economy of in the world by 2035 and the second-largest economy in the world next to China. The elephant up and running now and is challenging the dragon and eagle. As many as 3.2 crore people who are originally from India are working at the top positions in other countries. The time for India has certainly come," said Moodithaya.
 
Lion G Srinivas, MJF, past district governor, District 317-E and Roshan Shetty, actor, Girgit movie were the guests of honour.
 
The conference began with an invocation by Tilaka M Rao. Cyprian Crasta, second officer of the NCC Navy brought national flag to the dais.
 
Followed by this, Ln Kotraswamy delivered Lions code of ethics.
 
Two laptops were handed over to underprivileged students on this occasion.
 
Lion Vishwanath Shetty, MJF, first vice district governor, Ln K C Veerabadhra, PMJF, second vice district governor, Ln D Shridhar Shenava, MJF, district mentor and PDG, Ln Kiran Rangaiah, Sangathya coordinator, chief advisors Ln Bengal Nagappa Amin, Ln Gopal C Bangera, Ln Barkur Seetharam Shetty, zone chairperson, zone- 1 Ln Ratnakar S Shetty, zone chairperson zone- 2  Ln C S Rao and zone chairperson zone- 3 Ln Richard Dias were present.
 
Prizes and awards were presented to winners by the chairperson of the regional club.
 
Koragajja song fame Master Karthik was also honoured by the conference committee.
 
Dr Tallur Shivaram Shetty gave floral greeting to the guests. Ln Sadhana Kini proposed a vote of thanks. Ln Ranjitha Shet and Ln Nachiketha compered the programme.
