Mangaluru, Jan 20: Animal husbandry and wakf minister, Prabhu Chauhan, said that after the prohibition of cow slaughter law is fully implemented in the state, police cases registered against those who were trying to save the cattle during their trafficking will be withdrawn.
He was speaking after holding a progress review meeting with the participation of senior officials of the department at the office of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday January 19.
"The Cow Slaughter Act in the state was weak. When activists stopped cows when they were being illegally transported and convey information to the police, cases were many a time registered against the activists. All these cases will be withdrawn," he stated. He clarified that he will hold discussions with the home minister on this issue and take further steps as may be necessary.
