Mangaluru, Jan 18: District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai questioned MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s contribution to Dakshina Kannada district.

Addressing media here on Monday, January 18, Mithun Rai said, "BJP in state and central government have not contributed enough for the development of Dakshina Kannada district. We all know that banks have been merged and there was also plans to shift the IT office from Mangaluru to Goa. In the year 2015, the central government issued an order to set up a Rapid Action Force (RAF) base camp across five places including Mangaluru. In 2016, the then IG and DGP visited the 48-acre land at Badaga Yekkar for inspection."

"Unfortunately, the RAF base camp is now shifted from Mangaluru to Shivamogga. The local MLAs and MPs are silent on this issue and have not uttered a single word against the shifting of the camp. Are people of Dakshina Kannada only meant for votes? Why is there no concern over the developmental works in the district. U S Mallya contributed towards NITK, while other Congress leaders contributed towards MRPL. Janardhana Poojary also took a revolutionary step of 'Loan Mela,' what is the contribution of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to the district?" questioned Mithun Rai.

"In upcoming days Congress will protest against the shifting of RAF base camp from Mangaluru to Shivamogga. We have brought this to the notice of KPCC president D K Shivakumar and state Congress will take the decision on it," said Mithun Rai.

Reacting to Nalin's recent statement where he termed Congress as a dead party, district Congress president Harish Kumar said, "I do not know whether Nalin Kumar Kateel follows tradition but our party does follow it. After Nalin Kumar Kateel came to power, he does not have the stability of mind. He should watch his tongue or people will deem him a comedian."

Congress leaders Anil Kumar, Girish Alva, T K Sudhir, Lawrence and Neeraj Pal were present.

Despite performing badly in the Panchayat election Congress is yet to realise the ground realities. Other opposition parties are visiting houses and meeting people to understand the pulse of the people and try to look into their day to day problems. Here we have this guy conduct a press conference every week to sing praises of DK Shivkumar , bash Nalin or Modi and call for a protest for any petty reason. Are you serious bro? Protest for shifting RAF?. How will this move impact the common man to call for a protest?

No use crying like this. People have voted and elected BJP candidates and this will continue!
With a useless high command at center, my suggestion for young congress leaders is that to search for a new profession!

Dear DK inhabitants. Pls understand our towns terrain is on ghats land it is uneven. Not much infrastructure development can happen here - or there will be chances of land slides.
Only venture here is agriculture husbandry n poultry. Try tobacco spice export too
Our best chance us get high skill education expecially in medicine marine engineering civil engineering etc. Go abroad or metros for job work hard for 30yrs and retire peaceful in Mangalore.
Maybe some high skilled colg degree n campus can start. Example kota rajasthan manipal darjeeling etc.

Politics aside, I believe all parties should start working together towards development of Mangaluru. Congress should play constructive opposition party while supporting BJP government's pro development measures. Some important changes/development required are below:
    1) Rename DK district as Mangaluru district and look at overall development of district
    2) Beaches across district need to be developed to promote tourism. 3 to 4 beaches should be selected and developed as per International standards.
    3) Make Mangaluru as separate Railway Zone HQ and develop both Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction stations to accommodate more trains and passengers.
    4) Mangaluru International Airport needs better facilities and longer runway (not sure if they have enough space) to accommodate larger airplanes
    5) International Cricket Stadium needs to be set up in Mangaluru
    6) Tourism sector needs more focus. We should have boathouse facilities like we have in Aleppey in Kerala.
    7) Ring road should be constructed to avoid more traffic passing through the city.
    8) Pumpwell bus station terminus should be completed at the earliest.
    9) DC complex and other government offices are supposed to be shifted to Padil. We need to have this construction completed and have all offices at one place with better facilities.
    10) IT zones like Bengaluru need to be setup at different locations.

This is why INC is what it is today and will forever be, because Mithun Rai represents the future of INC as head of Youth Congress.

RAF will construct its own quarters and operate it. Most of them are highly underpaid, with little or no source to spend.

Now consider this. A IT company comes and sets shop. They will attract best talent from around the country and pay them well. These guys will either buy or rent houses/apartments and spend their money in Mangalore. Imagine the difference it will make to Mangalore.

But no, you want to play politics and want to protest movement of RAF to Shimogga, because you have your sight on a lame duck called Kateel. Names will change, but reality will not. Then what?

This is also why emerging leaders like you with myopic vision will never succeed in your career.

Nalin contributed lot from his mouth like Oscar did. Main contribution is gave Airport to Adani, Gave permission to build Kannur Airport What else more you need. He always talks against opposition and make high command happy and alive. He invites Modi too.

Renaming road names, bringing in ordinance for cow slaughter after state assembly junked the bill to pass, trying to pass ordinance for Love-Jihad, mob lynching, Mangalore graffiti writings, vandalizing minority and own holy places, aiding cow thefts, erecting congressmen’s statues and stealing limelight, destroying and moving minority holy places to build its own temple without any scientific evidence of preexistence of any holy place at the very site, institutionalizing and misusing govt machinery, resources and officials to self serve, destroying the economy and dismal job numbers by incompetent demonitisation and GST endeavours etc are some of BJP’s unprecedented, ground breaking and unparallel developments never seen before in independent India. Lastly people are so happy they don’t go to vote any more EVMs are doing the job.
