Ward sanitation worker Nagarathna becomes first to receive Covid vaccine in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jan 16: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) ward sanitation worker, 28-year-old Nagarathna, became the first recipient of the vaccine for COVID 19 pandemic in Bengaluru when she was administered the dose at Victoria Hospital on Saturday morning.

Nagarathna was among the Health Warriors who had tirelessly worked during the COVID 19 pandemic period.

The others who were administered the vaccine in Bengaluru in the presence of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa are: COOVID health warriors Gangadhr, Dr Sushant (35), Keerthi (28), Mala (30), Lokesh G (28), Vishnupriya (24), Varun Kumar (26) and Dr Sandesh Kandavala (32).

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa presented a flower bouquet to all the COVID health warriors, who became the first set of volunteers to receive the vaccine in the city.

The Chief Minister later released a special philatelic stamp to mark the launch of the world’s largest COVID 19 vaccine administering campaign in India.

Apart from the Chief Minister, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Coal and Mining Prahlad Joshi, State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar, BJP MP P C Mohan and other dignitaries were present during the administering of the vaccine at the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.

Karnataka has received 8,14,500 doses of the vaccine to be administered in the first phase at select centres in the State. The vaccine beneficiaries are to receive two doses of 0.5 ml each with the second dose to be administered 28 days after the first dose.

A total of 24,300 health workers across 243 sites in the State have been selected for the vaccine.

As many as 11 health facilities including six in BBMP limits and 5 in Bengaluru urban district have been selected for administering the COVID vaccines.

    In every state it must start from Governor, CM, and rest of ministers. In central also first President , PM, and rest .now they play with the life of poor ward sanitation workers. Shame,shame.

    The CM and health minister too should have taken the Vaccine ..They look so nervous and petrified .Hats off to the sanitation worker who agreed to take the dose.

    the faces of all including the one taking the vaccine says the story..no one has confidence.

    ONly God has to save all those who are taking vaccines. This is not only the story here but worldwide

    Vaccine is made in a hurry and no one knows exactly the side effects.

    I am not going to take at any cost. But I was mentioning about the hapless low grade workers who are being made guinea pigs in vaccination drive.

    See the example of overseas countries. all premiers have taken vaccination shot.

    If the govt is so confident the PM and CM should have taken it first.

    I know it is of no use talking to an andh bhakt like you. You go and take two for your two hands.

    They are the front line warriors so address them with respect. Respecting others might be a challenge for a illogical thinker like you. I will definitely get the shot and that do not justify me whether I am a bhakt or not. At this time, we need to appreciate the efforts put by the doctors, research team and the government in making the medicine ready for use. You sit at home and keep dreaming and spreading negativity.
