Mangaluru, Jan 16: Police have arrested three people, all residents of Konchady and Bondel in the city, in connection with the kidnap attempt of adolescent boys on the night of Wednesday, January 14 at Konchady in the city.
It is said that one out of the three accused is a college student. It is learnt that, during the interrogation by the cops, the accused have said that they did this for fun with the intention of uploading the video on YouTube.
According to the details available of the incident, one girl studying in first standard, three boys, studying in third standard and one boy studying in sixth standard were returning back home after visiting Mahalasa temple at Konchady at around 7 pm on Wednesday. There were grandfathers of two children also along with them. The children were running in front of their grandfathers.

Two boys, studying in third standard, got down from the steps of the temple and were walking on the road. As they walked a little ahead, three youths arrived on a two wheeler and one of them got down from the scooter and tried to put a gunny bag on one of the boys. However, that boy managed to escape. Later the youth tried to put the gunny bag on the other boy. He also managed to escape from the miscreant.
Shivam, studying in sixth standard, who saw the act of the miscreant from behind, picked up a stone from the road side and threw it on the culprit. One of the grandparents who was just getting down from the steps of the temple also saw the incident and he screamed loudly. In the meantime, two cars and some locals arrived on the same stretch of road where the two wheeler of the miscreants was standing. The culprits, who got confused due to the arrivals of two cars and a local person, escaped from the spot.
The whole incident has happened within a matter of two minutes and is captured on the CCTV camera. The real intention of the culprits will be known only after the investigation by the police.
Public has lauded the presence of mind and boldness of the sixth standard boy who hurled a stone at the miscreant who was trying to put a gunny bag on the boys studying in third standard.
