Udupi, Nov 27: The residents of wet well road, Mathadabettu in Kadiyali ward behind Vijayathara on Ambagilu two-way road are leading a hellish life.

This is a prestigious extension of the city where over 400 families live. These people suffer as they are surrounded by effluents. For the last three months, a drainage pipe has been broken in the middle of the concrete road here and filthy water has been flowing out continuously. Representatives of the local administration and officials have turned a blind eye to the plight of the people.

The people here have urged municipal officials, municipal councillors and local MLA many a time seeking relief from the dirty atmosphere created by the drainage water but none of them have unfortunately responded. The issue had also been raised with the deputy commissioner and district health officer many a time, but they too have failed to act.

The people are already living under the fear of pandemic in the form of corona. Now the people in Mathadabettu are facing a fresh scare of infectious diseases spreading because of the effluent that has made their life unbearable. They want the officials and people's representatives to act and provide permanent solution before it is too late.
