Bantwal, Oct 28: “Instead of restarting the Neera unit of horticulture department, the youth should be trained to climb coconut trees and obtain toddy from them,” said Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik to the horticulture department officials. He spoke after presiding over the KDP meeting in Bantwal taluk panchayat auditorium on Wednesday.

District panchayat member M S Ahmed expressed anguish that a tender has been passed for Suribail school building without funds. Responding to it, AEE said that the tender is cancelled.

The MLA directed survey department officials to provide details of submerged MMR dam land to grow fodder for cattle.

MLA Naik also told Mescom engineer that further package is not possible without utilizing the old package of Rs 30 crore. The engineer responded that the amount will be used by December. District panchayat member Tungappa Bangera urged the MLA to take a decision over starting a government medical college in the district.

To a request by district panchayat member Manjula Madhava Mave of releasing funds meant for final rites, tahsildar Rashmi R said that applications have been disposed of on the basis of funds received. The assistance will be distributed to others when the funds are received, she said.
