Mangaluru, Oct 28: In a complaint filed in Mulky police station in the taluk, it has been mentioned that a person died after a Golibaje (popular variety of fritters made out of Maida) got stuck in his throat and made it impossible for him to breathe.

Harish Ramappa (55), who used to work as coolie at Padubidri lost his life in this manner. He used to stay with his elder sister at Mulky and his wife and son live elsewhere. When coming home after work, he had bought Golibaje from a restaurant. On reaching home, he began eating the Golibaje. A piece of Golibaje got stuck in his throat that suffocated him. He fell ill and even though he was admitted into the hospital, his life could not be saved.

As the neighbours expressed suspicion about the cause of his death, the family got the postmortem done which found that a piece of Golibaje had indeed caused his death. A complaint of unnatural death was registered in Mulky police station.
